Satio 125
Ok, I had the time today to run the motor. Over all I'm pretty Impressed with the 125 so far. A few things came up that I noticed. At full throttle the high speed needle would turn from the vibration. I spent quite some time balancing the props, so I know they are good. The other thing is I could not get it to start by hand. On all most every motor I have, I start by hand. I'm not sure if its because its not completely broke-in or what. The motor would run backward when ever I tried it by hand. Be sides that, this seems to be an awesome running motor. Even at rich settings, very responsive.
Here are that results:
Arvada, Colorado
Altitude: 5407
55°F
31% Humidity
Coolpower 30%Heli
11oz. Fuel tank
O.S F plug
Four tanks of run-in, before leaning it out for the teats.
Run #1
APC 15x6 9700rpm @ 211°F
APC 16x6 9000rpm @ 223°F
APC 16x4w 9300rpm @ 215°F
Run #2
APC 15x6 9800rpm @ 215°F
APC 16x6 8900rpm @ 195°F
APC 16x4w 9800rpm@ 225°F
@ Idle was running about 100 - 105°F
Idle was @ about 1700rpm with awesome throttle transition.
With mild runs it got 12 minutes on the 5th tank, and 13 minutes on the 6th.
High needle: 2 1/2 turns out
Low needle: factory

RE: Satio 125
Dark,
Did you try "bouncing the prop" backwards off compression? This is the normal start procedure for the Saito. Mine starts so easy it is a joke. RPM numbers match yours.

Me too, if I try to start it fowards it will run backwards but if I start them by flicking it backwards of the backend of the compression stroke they run correctly.
I have more problems getting my .91 to start versus the 1.20 so I wonder if you're having the same problem I am which is that I must prime the 91 5 turns more than the 1.20 to start it.
Thanks for the numbers, I'll be getting one soon for my winter build. Tim

My OS 1.08 turns those numbers with those props. I thought the 125 would do a little better than that. I actually get closer to 11k on the 15-6, but I like the pull of the 16-6 better.

RE: Satio 125
Deanos,
Don't forget he is running at 5,400 feet altitude. You would get much more power in VA running the same 30% fuel. And (if the 125 is similar to my 100's) it isn't even close to broken in yet if you assume break in = full power production.

RE: Satio 125
Hey all - I'm up at 500ft and thinking of running the Saito 125 on a Graupner G-Sonic 15x10 - dya think it will pull this prop on 20% nitro? Anyone experimented with 10" pitch on this motor?

I have an Enya 80-4C that if you try to start forward by hand will completely remove a fingernail before the fifth flip!!!

I usually have almost half a tank after 10 minutes on 15%, and flying pattern and sport. I'm using a 10 oz tank.

Very Impressive Efficiency!
What are your needle settings, sir?

RE: Satio 125
Mind if I take this one, blw? I'm guessing his LS is 1/16th to 1/8 turn rich from stumbling on transition, and his HS is 200-400rpm rich of peak.

That's about where mine is tuned, as well. Of course my engine is still brand new, with only a few tanks through it. Perhaps it will become more efficient down the road. From what I've read, it will indeed.
