Anyone Tried A Enya 25X?
Hi, I'm trying to decide on an engine for a plane I'm putting together. Top of my list is an old enya 25X because of the G carb and because my other enyas seem to like bigger props (its for a 3D plane).
Just wondering what the tach numbers/performance would look like compared to say, an OS 25FSR. I have a 35X that flies every bit as good as my OS 32SX but with the advantage of a 2 needle carb. Just hoping the 25X performs similarly cuz the earlier non-schnuerle enyas, while being very nice engines, could be a little anaemic (e.g. my old enya 19).
Any figures or feedback would be great.
Thanks.

RE: Anyone Tried A Enya 25X?
Alright, guess these small engines aren't that popular. Pulled a few engines I had together and thought I'd post the results in case anyone ever needs them. I'm not a big believer in tach numbers as the complete index of performance, but here's an indication:-
OS 25FSR(?) - 12800 (Not sure which model, but there's a VR stamped on the underside of 1 of the mounting lugs)
Enya SS30 - 13500
Enya 25X - 13800
OS25 FX - 14400
Prop: MA 9x6
Fuel: 5% Omega
Altitude: Sea Level
Air Temp: Not sure, but Hot! probably about 32 degrees celcius
All engines are well used. Didn't agonise over the tuning so potentially either, you could probbaly get a little higher numbers. Hope that helps someone someday....

I really like engines in this size. My Enya 30ss always seemed very strong for a 9 oz engine (with muffler), but it's also a noisy little critter and the throttle is very non-linear. Your figures show the OS 25 FX to be much stronger, which is good to know (on the other hand, the FX is heavier...and quieter). Regarding the OS FSR, the stock muffler is kind of restrictive, and I found the engine gained about 300 rpm with a TT 36 muffler. Thanks for posting. Jim

I sell lots of engines as a used dealer. I ran up the Enya 25x just to check it out. I was so impressed I kept it. It really screams. No numbers to show but it started super easy and just sang out to me that it wanted to rip on some plane some day. I would recommend this engine.

Does anyone know where to get a muffler for the .25X? I believe the bolt spacing is 24mm, which is pretty narrow.
Thanks,
David

A friend picked up a Hatori header at Singapore Hobbies for me. Thanks Pete!
I have not yet made any cuts to the header. It is still at the stock length of about 5" or so. Performance will obviously improve as the length is tuned.
Temp: 48°
Powermaster GMA 5/22
Enya #3 plug
APC 9x5
15,259
.74hp
4.54lbs. static thrust

I cut a 1/2" off the header (I'm working gradually) and got 15,488 with the APC 9x5 and 5% nitro today. That's 229 faster, .77hp and 4.68lbs static thrust. It was not "pipey" at all; I mean the throttle transition was pretty linear without a drastic jump.
I will cut another 1/2" off and try some 15% nitro fuel. I'd like to hit 16,000 by the time I get it tuned. 16,000 would be 5lbs static thrust and .85hp.
