Default Veco .19 RC

I cleaned out an old Veco .19 RC that never ran much and hasn't seen fuel for about 25 years. It came with a perry carb and muffler (no rotating exhaust) and was broken in and mounted in a trainer but never flown then due to lack of time or something...

With 20% castor and 10% Nitro it spinns a 9x4 prop (Robbe dynamic) at about 12400 rpm. Who needs any new ABX stuff anyway...

Maidened the plane too with the original AM radio, old-school rocks!

Very nice!

I have a couple of these engines. The plan is to install one on a (so far unbuilt) Midwest Das Little Stik as a replica of my first totally successful powered RC plane from '74. Bought a couple used ones that were 'stuck' and after loosening the piston from the liner with EvapoRust they look new.

These are extremely well built engines with two ball bearings. They are basically miniature VECO .61's. Beautiful little engines.

Yes I really like them and have stocked up on some parts for them lately, just in case.
I have the one with perry carb and muffler, starts and runs really well. There is something about the old iron/steel technology that is lost in the more modern ABX engines...

I agree. Some older technologies are still as good as the new stuff. Ken Enya still thinks so. Look at Fender Tweed amps from the '50s, for example. In over forty years no one has been able to make anything better. Amazing.

Yep, the VECO .19 is on the DMS plans!
