13,550RPM - seems a bit weak to me for this sized engine. What do you think?

I ordered a Jett Stream muffler for it yesterday so I'll post again when I get it. But for $69.99 and free shipping from Tower, it is a hard deal to beat. it is going on a Goldberg Tiger 2. I want to try an APC 11x5 but none of the LHS have one so Imay have to order it. I did find an 11.5x4 but not sure how that will work out.

13550 calculates to .94hp. That's by no means bad, but my ST .45 does around 1.1hp with the silent muffler and an APC 11x6 on 5% nitro. Because the 10x6 revs up higher than the 11x6 it should produce even more hp than my figure.

These Super Tigres must be very powerful. 2 of my engines from different manufacturers with similar attributes (ball bearing .45 size) make the same numbers he posted. Of course mine both have slightly smaller than stock carbs to improve the low speed response idle/transition.

Dude, you have some strong ST motors! Where do you get these things? I hope it improves with time. For the money though, these Super Tigres are hard to beat. My OS 46ax is a stronger engine but at close to double the price, it isn't twice as strong! I have a STG-51 that is also stronger than this engine that has a header and pipe on a 4lb 2oz Das Little Stick. 14,000 with a 12.25x3.75. Very nice combo.

My next purchase is a ST G-90 (just missed the $99 sale at Tower) with a header and pipe that I plan to put on an Ultra Stick 60. That should be a fun combo!

Put a Jett Stream muffler on it. That woke it up! APC 11x5 at 14,200. That'll Get-R-Done!

That's very good! That's 1.35hp and 7.77lbs static thrust.

Now, I'll have to put an 11x5 on my ST .40 Bluehead w/pipe and see how it compares.

IMHO, seems to be very respectable numbers, and certainly the performance will improve with more running time

I have a GS45 that I picked up second hand off ebay. With a 10x6 APC prop and 75/25 all castor fuel it managed 14,600 revs absolutely peaked out which equates to 1.19HP.

Just for a comparison against a couple of my .60 CL stunt engines I also tried it with a 13x6 prop and it turned 9100 which was faster than the .60's would turn. My new Enya 60-IIIB could only get 8600 on that prop.

Flew my Tiger 2 with the GS-45 and Jett Stream muffler and it hauled it around nicely. Very good combo with plenty of climb out. Not unlimited vertiacle but close. Also flew my 4lb little stick with A G-51/header/pipe on it. That little plane is more my style! Unlimited vertical at half throttle!

I must have a severely weak one then because it was more than 1000 less than yours on the same prop.

Not necessarily because it might be the tacho. I know mine reads exactly 3000 pointed at a light bulb (50 cycles/sec in Australia) after I calibrated it because it had a slight error but mine only reads in 100rpm steps so presumably it could have up to a 500 rev error at around 15,000 revs. I tried to avoid that error as best as possible by finding where it just went to 2900 and 3100 and set the pot midpoint.

Well, I tried mine pointed at a flourescent light and got exactly 3600 (60hz power). Not sure what the deal is.
