    RPM Reading - 2 vs 3 blade

I have an old tach and the labels have long since fallen off. When I'm checking the rpm, I'm not sure if I have it in the 2 or 3 blade mode (it has a switch than slides left and right). When I switch between the two settings, should the higher of the two numbers be in 2 or 3 blade mode?

    Thanks.

Point the tach at fluorescent light. It should read 2400RPM for 3 blade and 3600 for the 2 blade setting.
