14,100 set for flying, 14,400 peaked out.

RE: Rossi 53
Rossi 53, Genesis Throttle Pipe, Perry 9500 carb, Enya 3 plug, Omega FAI, APC 13x4 Sport = 12,200 RPM Is that bad figure? My tach is cheap crap so canĀ“t trust it too much....

RE: Rossi 53
Hi,
Haven't run a prop that large on my 53--even though the pitch is low it seems to be loading the engine about as much as I would allow. SG Model Engines has a site which you may want to check out--<http://shop.vendio.com/RossiEnginesUSA> I think that will get you to it--if not let me know. This site has rpm numbers for several prop/exhaust configurations for some of the Rossi engines. I have been flying my Hanger 9 Aresti/Rossi 53 combo with the earlier mentioned APC 11x5, yesterday I tried a 10x8 APC with the same fuel/exhaust set-up as earlier. With the 10x8, rpm dropped to about 14,500--took off with mix set at 14,000. The Aresti seemed a little faster than with the 11x5. Don't have any measuring equipment other that eyeballs; one of my buddies (old pylon racer type) said he thought the 10x8 was faster than the 11x5. Just looking at the rpm/pitch numbers, the 10x8 at 15,000 shouold be about 30 mph faster than the 11x5 at 16,000. Both props provide unlimited vertical with the Aresti, the 11x5 does provide better acceleration, as you would expect. I intend trying the APC 12x4 to slow this plane down a little for some almost sane aerobatics. |
RE: Rossi 53
Could Anyone post tach witch 12.25x3.75 and 13x4W. I am curious how it's compare to os max 55ax

RE: Rossi 53
hi i think the rossi 53 is a high RPM engineto be run on 11 inch propsnot like the OS 55 AX that will like bigger propsi think going to larger props will take the rossi engine out of its designed power band-just my .02 centsfrom watching a few at my fieldi do not have one yet but that is exactly why i posted for this info- so keep it coming guys

RE: Rossi 53
HI correct me if i am wrong-but i think all rossi engines are on the heavy side for there size-but the built in strength is part of what makes them as reliable as they arethey sure do turn up the RPMS

R53 with 2 shims 10% omega, #8 OS plug, 10x6 16100 rpm
