Major Catastrophe, I agree with Tony C. i.e. you cannot lose with either one. Do not get too excited about performance numbers with regards to rpm unless you know how much time is on the engine. A brand new 2.1 will not run as strongly as a well broken 1.8 but this will definitely change as time accumulates on the 2.1. I have the 2.1 on a 14.5 pound Extra 300. Performance is awesome and gets better with more time, about 50 flights so far. I like the Menz 20x10 prop very well. very quiet and very good vertical,downline braking with very low noise. definitely a good combination.

First run on test stand using 2 gallons Morgan Omega "FAI" 2 successive days.

Currently running Morgan Omega 5%
rpm set to 8100 with tach.

Model will begin to torque roll upon short take-off roll at full throttle. (Learning curve)

I have a Moki 2.10 mounted inverted with an on board glow driver, inverted Bisson Pitts muffler, four gallons through it (Wildcat 5% Jet A) on a 15.5 pound Dave Patrick Edge 540, Zinger 22X6 prop over 9000 RPM totally unlimited vertical. Very good braking on down lines and landing. I am amazed how little fuel this engine uses compared to the Saito 180 I had on another plane. I have a 24oz tank and after a ten minute flight I still have about 1/3 left even spinning as many RPMs as it does, very happy with this engine.

Yep, my LHS said it would be fine it has 5% nitro and 23% oil (castor/synthetic blend) I even e-mailed Wildcat fuels and they said it was a good choice for the Moki.

9000 on a 22X6 Zinger sounds a little high. By this I mean that you are past the power curve for the Moki. Now I am NOT a motor expert but going back to the test made by Model Airplane News the way I read that information is that peak power will be be around 7800 rpm. This is the number that will maximize the potential of the Moki.

So by this I would bet you could go up to a 24X6 Zinger or go to a 22X8 Zinger and see even better performance.

I am currently thinking that the Menz 22X8 would be a good choice. Perhaps even the Ultra series. I need a new prop so I will try one of these.

Just my thoughts.

22 x 6 heh? The ground clearance gets a little tight there doesn't it? I run a 20 x 8 and Its close. I haven't finished breaking in the engine but it runs excellent, even at idle. the power is phenominal. I haven't even flown it above 1/2 throttle yet ( DP Edge 540T ) unless I am on an upline. :)

Ground clearance with a 22X6 is not bad on the DP Edge and I fly off a grass field. The plane flys a lot slower and takes more throttle but it has a lot of thrust. I have flown my Edge with a 20X8, 20X6-10, and the 22X6. The 22X6 best suits my flying style. The 20X6-10 flew the plane incredibly fast, something not recommended by Dave Patrick.

My LHS was out of 5% Jet A this time so I bought Power Master 5%, it has 18% oil (castor/synthetic blend). Has anyone used this fuel in a Moki? Moki recommends 20% oil content is the 18% close enough or should I add some castor and if so how much should I add to a gallon?

I use Coopers Moki fuel. It is 15% total oil with 20% of that castor. No nitro. Works for me.

I bought a used Moki 2.1 without manual etc and am trying to tune it. I fired it up today with a 20 x 10 topflite prop using 0 nitro and only got 6200rpm. (was only supposed to have about 3 gallons through it). Anyway, I was adjusting the needle valve trying to hear the rpm change but was having a hard time noticing it.

My question is, about how many turns out is your needle when you have it set correctly. Mine is roughly 4 1/2 turns out. Seems too much.

Mine is inverted. Has large fuel line. Low speed dial is exactly on center. High speed needle is 2 1/2 turns out. Turns an APC 18x12 at 8500rpm
p.s. after you get a lot of fuel through these, I've found that the low speed dial will turn on its own. I use a drop of thick CA right next to the index mark on the dial and basically CA the idle dial from turning. If you need to move it, your fingers can overpower the CA easily.

start @ 3 turns out on the high end. the marks for the low end can be lined up at 0. I turned it in to 2.5 turns out and left the low end the same. I run 10% in cold weather. runs great @ 7600 on the ground. I have a DP edge 540 T @ 15 lbs, and it hovers @ 1/3 throttle.

I'm running an APC 20 x 8 and a mostly a Zinger 20 x 8. the plane weighs only 15 lbs. Great power. More than I really need but I wanted pull and I achieved it. This plane flies better than I expected. No bad tendencies at all. I only run 10% Omega because its so cold and 5% was out of stock or I would use that.

Has anyone experimented with 3 blade props?? I am thinking of sticking my 2.10 in a 1.20 size Edge 540 and I believe I will have a problem with prop clearance. 18" will be the max diameter that I can run with stock size wheels.
What are the desireable 3 blade props to chose from? I'd like to try and keep the cost of the prop cheaper than the cost of the plane.

I've just got myself a Moki 2.10 and the suitable Macs Quiet pipe.
Has any one got this set-up or one similar?
If so, can you please post your pipe lengths, props, RPM and fuel info.
Does the Moki 2.10 gain much from running on a pipe?

Tailwheel Pilot...... how does that 20x8 Menz compare to the 20x8 APC? I am running the Menz S 20x10 and getting about 6800 leaned all the way out, about 6500 for flight. Pulls like a loader and good braking but not a lot of rpm.

Hey fellas, I went to the BME factory this week. Wow, what beautiful, quality craftsmanship in these gas engines. They carry a great looking line of props. I bought a 20x8 and a 20x10. I have a Moki 2.1 ready for the breakin stand, so I'll have a report soon for you.

My son is flying a dp extra with moki 2.10, we are around 4500 ft. We were running 5% wild cat went to home brew no nitro went from 7300 rpm to 8400 rpm. Same prop air wild 20x8. I recomend everyone trying these props very awesome.

Well I ran a little over 2 24oz tanks through my Moki with the Pitts muffler. No complaints and very happy.
I now have it on a MACs quiet pipe and wow! It's now swinging an APC 22x8 at 7200rpm.
From what everyone has said it still has a lot more running in to go.
I've got it in an 87" EF Yak 54.
The pic below is with the Pitts muffler.

That's a very heavy prop you got there. You should check out some nice light weight wood props like Bambula or Menz. I run a Bambula 20x8 at about 7200 RPM on my Moki 2.10. The Bambula has much bigger paddles than the APC hence the lower diameter prop turning the same RPM. The lighter wood props will spool up much faster than the APC. Try one out, you might like it.
