Webra .50 Speed
I broke-in my Webra .50 Speed yesterday and recorded the following figures after three 14oz tanks ran rich just breaking from a slight 4-stroke.
Fuel was 20% castor, 80% Methanol (Nil Nitro). APC 12x4 13,200 peaked. APC 10x7 14,000 with room for more. I didn't want to push it on a new motor. |
RE: Webra .50 Speed
What a nice engine. I am jealous. Very lightweight too.
Do you folks run zero nitro down there? Thanks, Ernie |
RE: Webra .50 Speed
The manual says to break in the engine with 0% Nitro and 20% Castor.
After the break-in you they suggest 16% synthetic and 2% castor and 5-10% Nitro. We have some pylon classes that only allow 0% fuel and i'm also making an effort to start using less nitro on all my models to save running costs. |
RE: Webra .50 Speed
I have identical numbers with my new 50. The stock torpedo looking muffler is very loud however.

I bought an Ultrathrust for mine but haven't got around to trying it yet.

RE: Webra .50 Speed
16000 on a Top Flite Power Point 10x6 during this break-in on Powermaster 15% nitro fuel. :)

RE: Webra .50 Speed
Tom,
It seems you ran this Webra way too rich... It only needs ~500 RPM below the absolute peak to keep it a bit cooler, but during your runs it was mostly four-cycling and much slower... I saw such an engine exactly, peel its sleeve while being run like that (or even somewhat richer). ...The only non-OS I have ever seen peel its nickel... Letting an AB(X) engine run too cool during break-in, is akin to letting a heroin junky get his fix... It will never do the engine any good... |
