PAW 55
Haven't seen many reports for the small diesels so I'll post some numbers that I got today.
We only had around 5°C today and I preheated the engine to get it started more easily. Engine is a PAW 55 (0.033 cui) BB RC with exhaust collector and it hasn't seen much fuel yet. Ran it today with graupner 7x4 with 30% castor in the fuel and got top revs around 7500rpm and an idle around 2800rpm, sweet sound! :D I'm thinking of putting this in an Eastbourne 1913 for some relaxed flying.... |
RE: PAW 55
Mr. Cox,
I've had a couple of these rc and with collector I remember getting 8,400 peaked with an apc 7x4 (I'll check my cheat sheets when I get home to confirm my memory) Treven aka Chevy43 has what he calls his Magic PAW which spins the same prop nearing 10k[:'(] the ******* ! There seems to be a very wide range on these engines. |
RE: PAW 55
Ok, thanks for those numbers. People rarely seem to post numbers from their little diesels, yet I find it a little easier to tune using a tach...
The APC would rev up more easily than the graupner, so I might very well be on par with the "regular" performance then. ;) |
RE: PAW 55
Here is what my note book says I got:
6x3.5 Cox 14,200 7x3 MAS 3,500-12,500 7x4 MAS 10,000 On a different "55": 7x4 MAS 3,500-9,900 7x3 MAS 3,500 - 11,100 Then with a 3" piece of exhaust tubing I got 3,200 - 11,200 8x3 MAS 2,500 -9,000 8x4 MAS 2,500 -8,000 Likes about 12" of exhaust tubing on the bigger props. Runs about 20+ min on one oz. on the larger props. Treven |

If I didn't see it w/ my own eyes, I'd call baloney[:@]

RE: PAW 55
Thanks for that complete table. That's some really good numbers for a 0.55cc engine!
Are you sure it's not an .049 ...? ;) Looks like I have some running to do on mine (at lower oil contents), I'll also put on a MAS next time for a better comparison. |
