Default AnyLink2 charger question

So, in the instructions for charging the battery, it says "plug the charger into a USB port on a computer....Well, I don't have a laptop to take out to the field, and I know several people who DON'T OWN A COMPUTER! What about using a USB charge adaptor the plugs into a car's cigarette lighter, or, with a adaptor, into a 12v source. Does the charger drop the voltage/amps down to safely charge the battery? Enquiring minds want to know. Thanks

If it's a USB connection, you would be getting the correct voltage to the charger.
