hi guys got my s50 broke in today using 16% fuel with out any problems. my next move will be to tune it. im thinking of running it slightly rich to be on the safe side and to avoid an engine rebuild later rather than sooner.

Hello there im new to forums but i just bought a new associated mgt8.0 and i started messing with the carb adjustments not knowing you shouldnt touch the mid mixture screw!!im using blue thunder 20% i finally got the truck to where it fires right up and idles great!! As soon as u hit the throttle it stalls.if i ease into the throttle with wheels in the air it loads right up and stalls out. Factory settings from manual are no good at all!! Someone please help a ddesperate mgt owner!!!! Should i not be using blue thunder 20%? Whats everyone elses carb adjustments at?? Thanks in advanced

20-30% nitro is whats recommended. And if you call and talk to the mechanic that works for team associated he will tell you never to run blue thunder fuel. He told me that he has torn apart many nitro engines and he can tell just by how the insides look if they been running blue thunder or not. I run blue thunuder in my rc10gt2 with os18cvr engine and it runs great! Awsome accelration and running 180-195 degrees. I could lean it a little more but its already running great. As for my mgt 8.0 i run nitrotane 30% by vp fuels. I will never go back to 20% in my 8.0 after running 30%. It seems to run cooler,more power,alot better tunablility

hey RCaddict80 the fuel im using for all my trucks is Opti fuel 20 SUPER SLV as i bought a raptor 50 heli this fuel does both they run brilliant on it. i noticed when the 8.0 engine is cold it always loads up & stalls with carb set at factory settings but it was ok when at operating temp . i have now replaced the 8.0 engine for a .32 it does not load up & stall when cold
when the fuel in the tank is almost empty, thats the peak of the temps in the engine. when it is almost empty and the temp is at 270F, this means that when it is 1/2 full, it may be around 250-260F, and when it is full, it may be around 240-250F.
your engine runs hotter using 30% fuel this means you will be doing an engine rebuild sooner rather than later

yeah im not to sure about the whole 30% wearing engines out sooner than 20% when u run 30% u have to richen up your carb. when you do that...your runnning more..more fuel..more oil..more everything. when you run less nitro content you have to lean your carb out meaning less oil..less fuel.. and you have a very small window for tunning. which means if u tune a little too lean you will see temps go up faster and vice versa. thats from my experiance anyways. this is the very first rc engine that ive ever ran 30% in. my other rc trucks i buy blue thunder 20%. i switched from nitrotane 30% to odonnell 30% speed blend and so far i like it alot better.my temps did actually drop a whole 15 degrees! and im actually mixxing the last little bit of nitrotane with my odonnell 50/50 untill the nitrotane is gone (which it almost is) then i should be getting even better results on 100% odonnell. ive heard testmonials of people who run oddonell and they claim up to 30degrees temp drops! which is kinda hard for me to belive but i will soon find out.

For a backyard basher/weekend racer Id say stay with 20% with an 11-12% oil content. You will get great performance but will have the added oil for extra protection plus its cheaper. Most racers I know run anywhere from 20%-30% with the oil content varying from 8%-11%. The lower oil content will allow a leaner tune to gain the fuel economy BUT is harder on the engine due to the lower oil percentage.

Which 32 engine did you replace your 8.0 with? I was thinking about getting a 30 or 32 and having the 8.0 for a back up.even though i have almost a gallon ran through the 8.0 it runs awsome and strong but it just dosnt seem to hold the tune as nice as id like to see it. Plus seems to always run a little hotter than normal.but what is normal on an 8.0? Lol im still experimenting with diffrent 30% fuels now im tring out the odonnell 30% speed blend has 8% castor/synthetic oils. Havnt really had a chance to run it all out on open feild in good terrain to see what temps im getting but so far blasting it up and down the street im netting 240-250 and running a little rich on high rpm but thats okay. Im thinking that if i can maintain atlkeast a 250-260 degree temps and the tune is good awith decent power than im gonna quit experementing and stick with this odonnell speed blend.if im still not happy with it then im gonna pick up a qt of byrons gen 3 30% with 11% lubrication and try that out.with the little but higher oil content perhaps it just might cool it down a little more. But probly not because the more oil content u have the leaner u have to run it to burn the oil plus i think it may slow the engine down a bit because the engine is working a little harder to get through all the oil. Not too sure i know i always look at every single aspect of the higher oil does this and lower oil does that and blah blah blah. Know aht i mean?

if you are going to replace the stock 8.0 engine you will need to purchase a big block engine mount because the 8.0 engine mount is way too wide and a 3 pin flywheel also clutch bell clutch shoes & clutch springs. i replaced the 8.0 engine with a force/ofna .32 this engine holds the tune very well. does not use as much fuel as the 8.0 boy it was a thirsty beast. i have also fitted the losi dynamite tuned pipe the power is awesome in the low mid high rev ranges. it pulls wheelies no problem when cold
