Right on, another MGT'er to keep this thread alive!
You'll like the truck, there are a few areas that need to be addressed (like any other), but it's a solid truck... post here with any questions, there's always someone here to help

RE: Monster GT anyone have one?
Cool, stiffer springs and FT caps are a good 1st upgrade (and my 1st upgrade also). Next [IMO] would be turnbuckles, or stock up on extra ends, they wear out and bend fairly easy (on bad landings of course)... I'd also recommend the forward only conversion. Reverse is cool, but the benefits of the FOC are hard to pass up- less rotating mass = less wear + you get better speed and take off (the FOC takes out over 8oz of rotating mass![X(]).. it's honestly probably one of the best upgrades you can do to a stock MGT.
Keep us posted and don't be afraid to ask for advice.... MGT'ers seem to be the friendliest RC owners out there.... IMO of course

RE: Monster GT anyone have one?
On my MGT I have some upgades and first thing I got was a hump pack.
2) red springs all around
3)shock caps and bodies with 30 wt oil
4)turn buckles
5)LRP spec 3
6)cheyenna 40 series rims 23mm hex
7)big joes
8)new era roll bar
9)23mm hex kit
10)robinson racing clutch
11)futaba digital high torque sevo
The truck is a lot of fun and I have some money into it. Next is a good radio I like my JR on the lst2 so I might get one more.

RE: Monster GT anyone have one?
Hello there. I'm a newbie with monsters and have a problem with my MGT I was bashing around, when suddenly the truck stopped moving. I can rev up the motor, but it just tries to move a little. Anyone could guess whats wrong? Clutch, slipper or something else? And how do I know if the slipper is dead or the clutch?

RE: Monster GT anyone have one?
To find the problem start at the engine and work your way to the wheels [sm=thumbup.gif]
As the engine is running examine the next link - the clutch. If that's ok then move onto the slipper clutch. From there it's into the transmssion - the small 2-speed gears likely being the source. After that it's the transmission cups & driveshafts (missing set screws), diffs, CVD's & finally hexes.
Give it a quick once over to look for any obvious problems, and then work your way through the truck as described above.

If the clutch bell is turning and the nut on the slipper is turning, but the output from the trans is not turning, the 1-way for the 2-speed could be slipping. If you still have reverse, make sure the linkage is shifted either all the way in or all the way out.

Bria1> your'e right maybe. The clutch IS turning, the slipper IS turning, and the output from the trans is turning, but very weak... dunno how to describe it, my poor english the same happens in reverse. I think I need to break apart tranny
Question: slipper pegs, should they be flush with the holes in the slipper?

Hey NL4J, I noticed on the truck you baught, that it still has the stock spur gear. I recomend getting the Robinson Racing Steel Spur gear, http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXKLB1&P=ML

theres nothing wrong with the stock spur, its actually great, if u replace the slipper pegs with a rubber washer its just as good as anything, if u know how to set mesh, it will last.

Damn, I just got my first neighbor complaint... It's past noon too! Agh.
It's soo frustrating, but I guess it is for them too.

At least you are a good enough person to be considerate! You give the hobby a good name by being cool about it, props to you!

Yeah, I feel like I should help them some how. Like IDK, since I'm only 15, mow their lawn or something...
But I took the truck to a middle school and bashed the heck out of it off a 15ft+ tall hill. SWEET!
And nothing broke! The clutch got a lil hot, but it's good as new as I took the dremel too it. The axial is sweeeet!

RE: Monster GT anyone have one?
Hey what % oil do you guys run in your fuel? ive been using "Sidewinder backyard basher" which is 20% nitro, 16 percent oil, (dont know castor or synthetic) But now all my LHS carrys is the normal racing blend, (20%nitro, 12 % oil) Is this ok or do i need more oil?
