Go to your LHS and get aluminum tubing. Bring a tower and see what size fits the body post holes.

I did this for an SUV body and it worked great. Perfect snug fit, oober strong, and really cheap. Like $4 for all four posts since the tubes come in lengths of about a foot.

I with I knew the diameter of the tube so you could order some. I'll try and measure it later.

How are you cutting the hole for arm that holds the body clips? I don't believe there are dremel bits that small to cut holes. The diameter of the posts I believe is 5/16 in.
Oh and how thick of a wall do you recommend?

I am having a little problem with my carb!!!!! I am used to airplane engines with the spin style carb cylinder. The problem is the slider sticks or has a hard time closing. I took it off the motor and am having a hard time getting it to slide smoothly. It is like it will pull out so far then is very hard to move in either direction. I was wanting to sand it GENTLY with some 400 grit sandpaper and water. But I was affraid to....What do ya'll suggest?????

Thanks, but I would like to have a replacement pipe that uses the stock mounting position not the side mount. Do they make a better pipe that would still use the stock mount? I really just want a better sounding pipe, the performance isn't that bad considering the truck's size.

Then you want this pipe.

Almost same performance as the lst2 and stock position

What a fun weekend. Bashed like crazy at our track yesterday and all over my yard today!!! Yesterday morning I went to the hobby shop where I got my GT and done some more trading. I ended up with some odds and ends a gal. of fuel and these!!! Revo wheels and tires. Smaller but dang corner exit is great. They dig quite well too.

I have those tires for my MGT as well, I bought them for track driving since the top end doesn't matter as much and they were way cheaper than buying a set of bowties and rims. They work great as long as the dirt is damp, but they slide like crazy on dry clay. Makes it entertaining though, sliding into and out of the corners.

what glow plug are you guys running in the stock 4.6? the truck doesn't like to run as cool as i would like, to get any snot out of it it run up to 270-280. i also can't remember if it was a long or standard plug, and i'm a cooler glow plug would help out. again its the stock AE 4.6 and i'm running blue thunder 20% sport fuel. would i be better going to a race fuel?

whoops... saw someone just asked about glowplugs at the top of this page, so disregard that, but i'm still curious about the fuel. thanks guys.

I run OS #8 plugs with usually 20% Odonnels or 20% Trinity Monster Horsepower if they don't have Odonnels. I stay right around 230 or so.. Im not sure of the difference between "sport" and "racing" fuel. My guess would be that the sport fuel has more oil per volume of fuel where as the racing fuel has less?

well that's what i was thinking, i bought the sport fuel because i thought it would help cool things down. i can get it running at 230, 240, but its doggy. so to get the motor to wind up like it should i'll lean it out 1/8 turn, mabye a little more, untill it runs good, then my temps spike up to about 260+

Don't base all your decisions on temperature. As long as the engine is making the correct sound and you still get a nice stream of blue smoke when you get on the throttle you are probably well within good running conditions. I would really only be concerned if your engine started going towards 280-300, then I would start to look for things such as air leaks.

Dang what a day....... I stripped all but 6 teeth off 2nd gear...Everything else looks great but 2nd looks like a bearing now. Does anyone know if there are metal gears to replace them both? All the other gears are metal but 1st and 2nd are plastic. Any suggestions??

i'll tune it by ear, and even with a nice smoke trail, i'll bring it in to check the temp and it'll be climbing past 280. but if i have it tuned to run around 230-245, it runs too rich and won't rev up like it should, or is slow to do so. so that's why i was wondering what plug you guys were using. i can't remember what i put in it last time, so i was just going to buy a fresh one, and i'm out of fuel, so mabye i'll try going to a race fuel, and hopefully the temps will be lower. even the low end likes to run fat.

Again thanks, I ordered both yesterday morning. Will there be any noticable increase in performance with this setup or better sound or both? I think the pipe that came with the truck is just way to high pitched sounding.
