Usin two digital mini servos for Focus 2 elevators

    Hello Don,
While researching your comments on the Brio , I note that you stab mounted 2 mini servos for the elevators . Since you have so much experience with the Focus 2 , what are your feelings about them in that particular application ? I'll be using an OS 160 on a Hyde ARI mount and an Aeroslave pipe. Any prediction about the structural risks to the stab and potential tail heavyness ? Thanks

RE: Usin two digital mini servos for Focus 2 elevators

I'm currently running 9411 servos in the elevators. These weigh 1.36 oz. I am considering switching to JR 3421SA's as between the two I'll save about 2.3 oz in the tail, which should move the CG forward some. I'm at 8 1/4 inches now, which is not bad, just not as nose heavy as I like my planes.

The biggest advantage is no more elevator trim changes between flying sessions. The other advantage is it makes I have not found any disadvantages to twin elevator servos. The plane seems to track fine, as far as I can tell.

Thanks for your opinion , Don . I , too , plan to use two JR 3421 SA servos.

That's 3/4 of an ounce saved in the tail between the two (I meant to say 2/3, but I double checked the weights and the 3421'2 are just under an oz each, Translates to saving addiional couple of ounces in the nose for the same CG change effect on the Brio.
