Default Best Prop for engine pipe combo

Don,
I just purchased an Oxai Pinnacle sporting a YS 160 DZ with an NMP Header and Hatori 693 Pipe. It currently has a 2 blade 16.5 x 12W APC and was wondering if that combo is perfect, or should I order a 4 blade. (The plane only has 12 flights and I am told everything is new to the plane. )If so what size, namebrand and place of purchase would you suggest? I will be flying Intermediate if that bears any supporting relavence.

Thanks in advance,
J. Tucker

4 Blade will give you slower speed. I'd suggest trying out what you have and if you like it you can always continue or experiment with different prop combinations at a later time.

Coming to the FARM Warrenton, VA pattern contest in 3 weeks? I'd be happy to let you try a 4 blade on your plane to see what you think.

Don,
Oh how I wish I could attend. I'm still in Iraq. I won't be home until Oct 20th or so. I don't know if you remember me, I came to several contest with Carl Zal..... in 06 and one in 07. I talked with you about your Comp Arf Extra because I wanted to do a tribute scheme SX. I just ordered a 3.3m Yak with the old Giles 202 Flag Scheme so I can complete that tribute scheme. I look fwd to seeing you again and I will probaly just order a 4 blade so as I'm practicing over the winter I can experiment.
Do you have a recommeded diameter and pitch or place to purchase.
Thanks again Don,
James Tucker

Best Place I've found in Central Hobbies. www.centralhobbies.com

15.5x12 has worked well for me.

Don, Why do you recommend high pitch propellers for pattern?

The 4 blade prop high pitch keeps the noise down. We get very paranoid when it comes to the noise checks before each flight at the finals/ team selections. 4 blade- I found has the best "thrust to db ratio coupled with speed range" for glow planes (at least from testing on the Brio).
