Wind correction & Rudder->ele mix
Hello Don!!! How are you?
These days I'm trying to improve my flying during windy days. I find that even a moderate wind makes my flight really horrible! I need to learn how to fight it in the best way :) What kind of technique do you suggest to master the plane in windy situations? I understand from you posts that more engine and power management is a must, but how about wings and rudder? Let's take a level flight for example. Should we bank the wing towards the wind, or should we leave the wing level and correct with rudder only? A related question. Applying rudder in level flight, I noticed that my plane tends to pitch to the belly - but my KE mix is quite good. Is that normal or I have something wrong in the setup? This makes wind corrections harder, since I also have to apply elevator to correct a level line - straight or inverted. Thanks for your usual willingness Don!!!! Happy Pattern Flying |
