delaminating 33% Edge Landing gear
Mike,
Is hanger 9 doing anything yet about there gear because there is no way anybody can claim it is not faulty.
I have not even gone through 3 gallons of gas and have not had a hard landing and mine has delaminated also. I do have other giant scale planes with CF gear and do not have this problem.
Thank You,
Jerome

Have you fixed it with thin CA? Its easy and works very well. Same on many other CF gear I have used. BTW, my 33% Edge gear is one of the few Cf gear I've had that hasnt delaminated FWIW

Mike
my gear has 8 flights on it and it is starting to delaminating no hard landings. Just starting to enjoy flying the plane now what
I don't think i should have to buy new gear after 8 flights
Love the plane
Hate the gear

RE: delaminating 33% Edge Landing gear
My son's gear did the same thing. Horizon told me to send the gear in and almost 3 weeks later, I still have nothing. The plane is sitting collecting dust and we will soon be heading into some really bad wind conditions. The plane is 8 month old and has 6 flights, because it has been sitting without landing gear. I called Horizon and they just kept telling me that they are working on it and I will have new gear soon.

While it's true that Hangar 9 should make good on the defective gear I can't see why you would miss the prime flying season over something that can be remedied for a set of $50 aluminum gear. I know you shouldn't have to but I chose to use aluminum gear early on in the spring and have enjoyed the plane all summer. As an added benefit I think it looks better and I have more ground clearance.

I went and did the CA thing.I will pick up a aluminum from tnt
My first flight was on Sept 2 & here it is a week later that the gear is coming apart. Will see if the gear holds up until the new one arrives.
I think hanger 9 should step up to the plate and take care of this instead of just CA the gear

Point is that almost any CF gear will delam, and the CA fix should be permanent. Getting a new gear will probably not help, it'll delam as well.
Guys, trust me on this, just fix the delam with thin CA and go fly. If done correctly it wont break unless its abused. We've done this on CF gear even on 45% airplanes it its held indefinately.

Flex the gear so the delaminated layers are open. Pour in very thin CA til it comes out the other side. Let it flex back, wipe off the excess and let it dry with no weight on the wheels.

Mike,
Thanks for the info. I'm glad i didnt trash the gear i have, I just kinda had this feeling it could be glued back together but wasn't going to risk the $70 gear on a 4k investment. And by the way, you should have gotten first place in the foamy contest considering that you flew though the bagdad air defense and lived to tell the story. (N.C.F.R.)
