RE: New Hanger 9 Planes

Hey Mike,

I'd like to see you design a 3D plane specifically for those of us who fly at high altitudes. Taking density altitude into consideration during the summer, I'm at 7000 feet. I know there will have to be a compromise with weight (heavier aircraft) because of the size of the engine will require a more robust platform, but I'd buy one in an instant if the aircraft is properly designed.

Seemingly, I always have to put a larger engine on the aircraft because during the summer I have a density altitude of 7000. I don't try to overpower the plane, I only install the engine that will work effectively at my altitude. The planes don't fly do vertical flight like rocket; however, they do pull with some authority. A good balance is hard to achieve unless the manufacture designs a product what will work well at high density alititude.

I've flown the 100X and F90 and each require a just a little bit more HP to make them happy at altitidue.

Thanks

Chuck

Mike,

I have about a dozen planes in the hanger that are all variations of aerobatic planes. It would be great for a very different plane in the hanger, how about a 1/3 scale DH82A Tiger Moth? Something engineered with easy field attachment wings and wires. Swing a 32 inch prop on a gearbox for scale performance (and unlimited vertical if you use all the left stick in mode 2). You could offer a civilian and a WWII scheme for variety.

I think the Raven is a great idea. my dad had one of the old global raven 60 sized kits. He made countless mods to fix it, but it ended in the ground after a nylon wing bolt stripped and left the wing seperate from the plane. A 30%-35%er would be a dream, and no one else is offering that, I can promise. I have looked. Especially with hangar-9's amazingly cheap pricing for such a high quality airplane. Also, maybe some consideration for a 30%-35%er Laser 200? It seems that that plane is no longer existant in an arf, except for kangke. But their convering scheme is UGLY, plus it isnt hangar-9. I am really looking for a good 100cc or 85cc plane to add to my hangar. Im gettin tired of my 50cc :)

dh Beaver

Same as e flight one, same detail etc only bigger.
Large enough to be powered by Saito 5 cyl radial or small gas.

How about completing the Showtime line with a 50cc version? There's already an electric, .50, and .90.
I would love that plane.

Mike, Our club is located in the sacramento area, Sacramento Area Modelers. We hold 4 events a year focused on mini reno style pylon racing. WWII aircraft that shot bullets and any scale outline that raced at reno or mohavie qualifies for the event. We have a criteria for sq in to engine displacement and rules you can download from the SAM website. We have three classes bronze, silver, and gold. Most gold planes are scratch built or highly modified world models .46 mustangs. The engines of choice are ys four strokes .110-.120-.140 ect. Other clubs around the united states are catching on to this sport in the hobby. Hanger 9 should consider doing 1 or more rendetions of reno style racers perferably a modified p-51 mustang that is thin and light low drag and would fit the SAM warbird criteria and rules. Our last race in april had over 40 pilots and went all day long. I have heard pylon world in Airizona is big into this sport too. Hanger 9 definitly has the skills to build such a model, look at the sundowner for an example. Please consider this idea. I think hanger 9 would do very well with this idea, this is something that hanger 9 lacks in its inventory. Such a model could start a whole new revolution across the united states and possibly in other countries. If you have any questions please post back as i would be glad to give you more input on this topic.

A giant scale MX2 would be cool

It appears that there's a 150cc in the Evolution line. Is there a 40% in the works?

I see the edge 540 33% is off the hangar 9 site, it would be nice if u make a 35% Edge like the 35% Extra 260

Time to wake this thread up. Mike, I just love the way my Sobre' flies with the SFGs. Very smooth and stable, awesome yaw authority, and good 3D. I would like to see a 50cc plane that is similar. Also, I know it would look weird but it would be nice to someday see an airplane offered that has as much lift power in the yaw axis as the pitch axis. Just looking for new ways to expand the flight envelope.

I agree with eddyc on all counts.

I also think it's time to break into the common IMAC market and introduce the next best thing. It's been an Extra, Edge, Yak, or Sukhoi for a long time now. I don't think the Pitts M or Python are going to dominate in the competitions. I think the next big plane could be the Giles MX3. It is almost like a cross between a 300L and a G300.

I'd like to see Horizon come out with some kits, for example the Funtana would be an enjoyable build. Be interesting to see the type of demand for kits?

Hi Mike, love the twin otter but still would love to see a shrike commander like the Palmer plans ones. Also what happened to the larger war birds?
