Torque Rolling article, re: EX-100 Gyro

Hi Mike,

In this article you wrote a long while ago you referenced the Expert Electronics EX-100 gyro. Would it be possible to obtain a photcopy of the users manual for the EX-100?

Thanks!

While gyros don't come close to making the model Torque Roll without any flying effort, they do make it easier. The best description of the effect gyros have is to imagine for a minute that you can fly your model underwater. If you have a gyro on rudder and elevator, then the model will fall out slower than if no gyros were used…as if it were underwater. If you put a gyro on rudder only, it will fall to the sides slower, but forward and back normally. Gyros such as the Expert EX-100 Aero Gyro are a great tool to use in learning Torque Rolls. Put one on rudder, or for maximum help, put a second on elevator. They'll give you more reaction time to keep up with the model. After you've learned with the gyro set to full gain, begin to reduce the gain (the effectiveness of the gyro) until you've got it mastered with no gyros at all. (Note: no gyros were used in our Ultra Stick.)
A great way to practice Torque Rolling without risking your plane is with Hangar 9's new FS One flight simulator. Also check out Hangar 9's Ultra Stick and the Saito 180. Especially interesting are the new FuntanaX 50 ARF and FuntanaX 100 ARF models from Hangar 9 and many other new offerings.
