Default autorotation gear

I haven't done an auto rotation yet, how much of an advantage or disadvantage would the autorotation gear be? I'd kinda like to have tail control during one, considering the flying club i fly at is pretty much on the edge of a hill, i'd want good orientation.

They all have autorotation bearings.

I'm assuming you're talking about the Raptor 30 without the constant drive tail?

If thats the case then the advantage is you have rudder control during an auto, the disadvantage is that it saps energy (RPMS) from the blades during an auto and the 30 does't have much inertia to spare so you have less hang time and proper control during an auto is a bit more critical.

If you have forward speed, shooting autos with no tail drive isn't a big deal.

You can get the auto rotate gear for a 50 raptor and put it on your 30. Also, the auto rotat gear part number is listed in the back of your 30 build manual

Ok, well I'll probably get the 50 auto rotation gear... try out some autos on it and if i don't like it, or have trouble, i'll switch it out. ill put my woodies back on for it, so if i crash, still got my carbon fiber ones.

You can oder it direct from Tower Hobbies now that they carry the TT line. Open the TH web page, put the part number in the search area and hit enter. Should pop up with the part on screen , methinks they will ship it to you at their bare bones rate of $5.00 or so.

Thats counter productive, wood blades have even less interia than carbons.

About the only difference you'll see is a little less hang time, and the fact that you have yaw control

Hey BH:
Have you seen the lo prices for 600 MM carbons that tower has? You might want to take a look via their search. I bought two sets, very nice looking and so forth.

Which kind? I fly mainly Rotortech's (they are selling them as Century) for my flybarred ships.

Going to be looking at Edge Blades soon though, I have some night blades coming from them for review once they get released next month.
