Default Raptor 50 Titan FBL Conversion

Has anyone here converted there Raptor 50 Titan from Flybared to Flybarless ??

I'm thinking of converting mine over to FBL but wanted to see if anyone here has already done it and if so how she flew afterwords ?

I'm also wondering if the 3 Axis Gyros have a built in gyro for the tail or if i need a seperate gyro for the tail alone ?

Also i was wondering if the [link=http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/61_394/products_id/217722/n/Spektrum-AR7200BX-7CH-DSMX-Flybarless-Control-System-w-BeastX]AR7200BX[/link] would work with my original DX7 ?

3 axis gyros by their very nature control three axis, that is pitch, roll, and yaw. So, with yaw covered you don't need a separate tail gyro.

Yes that will work with your DX7.

I haven't done the conversion on one of my Raptors but I converted a Trex. Hard to describe how it flew afterwards except to say it flew like a FBL machine. Its a little differerent but I wouldn't say it was better or worse, just different.

Thanks, I was asking becuz ive seen alot of posts on other sites saying you can't mix DSM2 with DSMX So i was uncertain but According to Horizon Hobby these people dont know what there talking about.

Quoted From Horizon Hobby

Should I purchase the DSMX add-on?

Before investing in the DSMX transmitter add-on, there are several important facts about DSMX you need to know:

•To realize the full benefits of DSMX technology you must have both a DSMX Transmitter and a DSMX Receiver
•DSM2 transmitters are compatible with DSMX receivers. Likewise, should you add-on to a DSMX transmitter, the DSM2 receivers you have now will be compatible with it.
•Because DSM2 and DSMX share the same wide-band DSSS foundation, all Spektrum users will enjoy superior range, speed and precision whether theyre using DSM2 equipment, DSMX equipment or a combination of both.
•The difference a DSMX system makes is only apparent when hundreds of 2.4GHz systems are in use at once.* DSM2 users who rarely, if ever, fly in big events or other exceptionally "noisy" 2.4GHz environments may find the DSM2 equipment they have now is all they will ever need.

*A DSMX system refers to a DSMX transmitter in use with a DSMX receiver.

Flying a FBL Heli on Phoenix RC 4 with my DX7 seems to be alittle more sensitive then a Flybared Heli in the sim, I don't know if thats true to life or not.

Thanks BH

Well here's the skinny on DSM2/DSMX

Any DSM2 reciever will link with a DSMX transmitter but will do so in DSM2 mode.
Any DSMX reciever will link with a DSM2 transmitter but again, will work in DSM2 mode.

To clarify what you probably heard about mixing....
If you have a DSM2 reciever you can't use a DSMX satalite reciever, and vice versa, you can't hook a DSM2 satalite to a DSMX main reciever.

As for more sensitive, you can adjust that to make it as tame or as aerobatic as you like

Well i think i found my 3 Axis Gyro that i'm gonna be using !

Its the [link=http://ikonflybarless.com/product_info.php?products_id=1]iKon[/link] for $224.99

-

iKon - Are You Ready?

Brought forth by MSH - the makers of the 'Brain' - the iKon represents a new leap in flybarless control. Bert Kammerer, in cooperation with MSH, worked tirelessly to fine tune the iKon flybarless controller to perfection. Every aspect of firmware has been fine-tuned and optimized, and in the end, we can say this system simply has no equal on the market today. The iKon is ready to change everything. Get ready for the iKon - it's ready for you.

Vibration Resistant - Bad Vibes Goodbye.

Simply put, gyros hate vibration, and when a flybarless system is sensitive to vibration, this has a direct impact on flight performance. The iKon flybarless unit utilizes new vibration dampening technology to isolate vibrations and put them in their place. This results in rock solid flight with nothing but true, direct flight performance that you can see and feel.

Simplified Setup - The Wizard is Here.

Nothing is more irritating, frustrating and time consuming than fumbling with manuals, setup videos and tech help when it comes to proper flybarless setup. No more - the wizard takes control. Utilizing an easy to follow and fuss free setup, the iKon takes a simplified approach to flybarless setup, allowing you to spend less time tuning and more time flying - just the way it should be.

Auto Level Technology - This is It.

That sickening crash can now be put behind you with auto level technology. For anyone still learning the basics, or those pushing new 3D limits, the auto level technology built within the iKon will revolutionize the way you fly, allowing you to push the limits with less risk of crashing. This technology is one of the multiple reasons that make the iKon so special, allowing a recovery from any orientation, no matter if the aircraft is right side up or upside down. Unlike other "bail out" technologies, the iKon "knows" how the aircraft is orientated, allowing a right side up recover every single time. Further, with auto level technology, the aircraft will remain level, allowing those first few training flights to be truly memorable - in a good way.

Satellite & S-Bus Ready - It's Your Choice.

Allowing the convenience of satellite technology, the iKon supports Spektrum DSM2 & DSMX satellite receivers, along with S-Bus technology via Futaba. On the Spektrum side, (2) satellite ports are offered for maximum redundancy & path diversity, suited for helicopters 500 sized and greater.

Built in Governor - Set Your Speed & Flight Mode.

Utilizing a transmitter selectable governor, the iKon brings compact flybarless technology to every level of the helicopter, allowing you to dial in that perfect rotor speed that suits your style, all at the flip of a switch. Incorporating a selectable (3) switch flight mode program, the iKon allows you to dial in your helicopter with fully adjustable flight mode parameters to obtain the very best from every flight. No more ancillary devices needed on your machine - the iKon handles it all.

Features:

* Latest Gyro Technology for Superb Performance
* Vibration Cancellation Technology
* Easy Setup via Built In Wizard
* Separate Receiver Support, Futaba S-Bus & Spektrum DSMX & DSM2
* Dual Spektrum Satellite Ports for Maximum Path Diversity
* Built In Governor
* (3) Flight Modes Available - Transmitter Adjustable via (3) Position Switch
* Auto Leveling Technology
* Firmware Updates Available via PC
* Flight Mode Status LED Light
* Onboard Mini USB Connector

Included:

(1) iKon Flybarless Flight Controller
(1) Adhesive Vibration Isolation Mounting Pad
(1) USB Adapter for PC Programming
