Weight of Blades and Balancing...
My Raptor 50V2 kit came with TT carbons and TT wood blades, and I got a Mavrikk crash kit with Mavrikk wood blades. I just put the carbons on after I built it, since their CG and balance was dead on, and flew several tanks with those. I decided to build and balance the TT and Mavrikk wood blades a couple of days ago, and found out some interesting info about all these blades. The TT wood blades had CGs that were pretty much dead on, but they required the most tape to balance them. The Mavrikk blades had CGs pretty much dead on as well, but required only half a strip of tape to balance them. The other interesting thing I found was the weights of the blades... a local heli guy told me that carbons were lighter than woods, because the wood ones were weighted. Boy, was he wrong! The carbons are the heaviest of the bunch:
TT Carbons: 149g
TT Woods: 119g
Mavrikk Woods: 132g
(weight per blade)
BTW... the quality of the Mavrikks looks a little better to me than the TT woods.
I flew the TT wood blades today, and they worked great! I thought there might have been a little more vibration than with the carbons, but that' probably due to me screwing around with the engine tuning, not the blades. I rechecked the blade balance afterwards, and they were still dead on.
