Default 3D rotor speed poll...

for the guys out there really slammin around your Rappy's with 3D and inverted flight, especially the 50's, what head speed do you guys like. I was using a governor for the first time today and 1700 seemed a little low, are you guys up above that? I have to say the governor really made the V curve seem alot cleaner!!
Thx

I run between 1800 and 2050 (depending on flight modes) on my R50's & R90's.

I have Raptor 50's and I run the highest flight mode at 1850. I do have a middle flight mode at 1800, and it is surprising how much differance is in 50 RPM's.

I don't use a govenor, but my 30v2 runs anywhere between 1800 and 1950 in 3D flight. (tested with one of those fancy optical tacho's).

On the Raptor running a TT50, 1900-1950 seems to be a good rpm. This headspeed puts the engine right where it needs to be.

With the 8.5:1 gear ratio (stock .50 ratio) the engine is happiest when the head is at 1830-1830 rpm (15470-15555 engine rpm). Sure it'll put out more power at 1900....but don't expect the engine to look too good when you take it apart. You will also find the pistons not lasting as long on the TT.50 if you go over about 15500 rpm.

I've got 20 gallons through a TT50 running them like I just said and the piston is fine, nice and shiny bright on top and around the ring area.

That's when I started to notice mine going (20-25 gallons)...droped the headspeed down and it's been great ever since. You may be ok but keep an eye on it....still bright shiny aluminum on the top of the piston? with 20 gallons?[sm=stupid.gif]
