What temps on a .50 SX-H Hyper?
I have 4 tanks through it so far on my Raptor 50 and I'm only up to 150 deg. It is still rich and slobbers fuel from the pipe. I know everyones application will be differant, I just need a ball park figure.

RE: What temps on a .50 SX-H Hyper?
I use the Traxxas Flashpoint infra-red thermometer to measure the cyclinder head temperature after flying around and it is usually at about 60 to 70 deg. celsius and if I just hover it is around 80 to 90 deg celsius.Hopefully this will help but if you're using a different instrument which might have direct contact with the engine then these figures won't be of much help.By the way I have the exact same engine in my Raptor 50 so the temperatures should roughly be the same.So 150 deg. sounds high but if that is degrees farenheit then it is probably low and is definitely rich. What you might have to do is lean the bottom end a bit by turning the screw about 10 to 30 degrees clockwise from its centre position. That's what i needed to do as they generally are set rich by default. If you lean the bottom end you might need to open the needle valve 2 or 3 clicks to prevent it from overheating.

Hey thanks Tuned pipe. What I probably should have asked is how much heat it would take. I haven't gone over 150 deg. Fahrenheit yet but, it's still slobbering rich. My old TT .39 ran about 220 deg. I'll have to do a conversion to see what 80-90 Cel. is. I plan to start leaning it out this weekend.

I run my Hyper .50 with the venom on board temp thermometer.
My sensor is tight around the top of the cylinder just below the blue head.
I have seen good runnign characteristics at up to 220* F.
Once you jit 230* and above you start to loose power.
I try to keep mine around 212* and runs good all day.
This is only a guideline ans you are measuring your differently.

I got it leaned out to 180 deg acording to my Duratrax infer red temp gage, it's really starting to honk now. I have a Venom but just haven't installed it on my 50 v2 yet, it will be interesting to see what each say.
Wally Gator- how did you mount the case on your Venom temp gage? I had it on my 30 V2 but never liked the way I did it, I used servo tape that came undone all the time, maybe you have a better idea?
Thanks,
David

I bought it from Heliproz and they have a mount for it.
I mounted it using the boom support screw. I can see it by walking up to it
and I usually have it set to show MAX temp. That way I see what the actual temp was
doing during a power climb or whatever else.
