Default 1 last question!!!

Hi All

again one more newbie question!!

May seem stupid!!!

Once the engine has started what function does the glow plug have??

Is it not only to pre heat the fuel before start up / ignition?

Thanks

The heat of the engine keeps the glow plug lit in order to combust the fuel. If the glow plug goes out during flight the engine will shut off. Not good. That's why you want to inspect your glow plug often for fouling, before something happens.

Actually its a catalytic reaction between the platnum coating on the element and the methanol but its the same concept, if the plug goes you are landing soon. Very soon.
