Here is a link for the fuel filter and clamp at heliproz, their website is www.heliproz.com this is what I have on my heli. My LHS pretty much blows as far as heli parts and kits. I use heliproz and Ricks RC (www.rcheli.com) religiously plus the guys at both places sell only heli equipment and they all fly so they offer excellent advice.

Keep the head under 200, as much as 220 but 200 will make it last alot longer.

thanks, I ordered them..

hmm, so 202 sounds ok. must be gunk in one of the lines.. or maybe a fouled glow plug? I dont know, when I first ran it it was frick'n dumping out oil from the pipe, I mean ALOT!! I'll change that tonite and try. I'm glad I'm just 1-2 ft off the ground. I was able to set it down before it totally died.

sounds like you are either too rich or you are overfilling your fuel tank and filling your muffler with fuel.

I'm probably over filling it then.. I did tilt it so it would drain out of the pipe. I guess I'll leave a bit more room. I've never had to use a pump before. maybe that why its not running, pipe is full?

I usually just watch the exhaust tube as I fill up and even then I usually pick the heli up and tilt back to make sure I didn't pump any into the muffler.

The good news is that 1 -2 feet even if it dies you can easily set it down under full control. Just ever so gently lower the pitch and it wil set down very nicely.

well, been busy. we had a baby girl on friday. not much time for the raptor. I did get the filter so I'll have to put that in and get some new fuel line.

I messed with the needle a bit and it runs better at mid-high. I'm going to do some more research on setting the motor up right.
so far I've got about 3+ tanks of hovering in, last nite I took off the paint sticks. I need to go to a bigger place now!!

got some more flying in.. with the hot weather the thing would crap out 3/4 stick. I richened it up and it seems too work. It would get to about 207f when it loses power.. I also redid the wiring.

Just some advice; you need to space out your to front rudder pushrod guides more. They should also be lined up so there is no
resistance on the pushrod. I also like to drill a small hole through the top of the guides(off the boom of course) and then you could put a small dab of epoxy or CA in the hole to keep them in place. You should also get some foam wrap to insulate you RX and
RX battery from vibration. Beautifal background in your pics.

Default RE: raptor 30 noob setup

so I've got a gallon through it now, I can hover pretty well and I'm starting to move around a bit.. yeah, I'm going slow but I haven't crashed yet so I'm sticking with it!

one problem. I was about 3ft up when I thought it was wind or something, it started to get away from me. I set it down ok, a little hard but nothing drastic. I refueled and tried to go back up and it now starts spinning in circles before it lifts off. Its like the gyro isnt working right. weird. I'm going to check the connections and make sure they are clean and all but not sure what to check after that. its got to be electronic because it worked fine then it didnt.

Also, I'm still having trouble tunning this thing. if I try and go 3/4 throttle after running it for a few minutes, it loses power like its hot. I check it and its ~200-207 which doesnt seem that bad. I might have to take it in and have the lhs look at it but I'd rather do it myself. I tried setting the mix to what the book said for starting out and when I did that it would barely run.. now I've turned it so many times I dont know where it was set to at the factory.

If I got a different pipe would it be any easier to tune?

well I bought the new pipe anyway. I havent put it on yet. I did pull the fuel tank and replace the stcok line with aftermarket. the stock line seems alot smaller.
I started it up and turned the dial adjustment each way until it died and then put it in the middle of those points. seems to run ok now, I'll really get to test it tonite.
also, I checked all connections, moved the rudder back and forth and it seems to be ok..? something binding maybe in the tail linkage?

I dont know what the tail problem was, its flying fine now. I also did a 1/4 more turn on the fuel and it seems to run pretty good now, I flew for a good 20min and the motor never puked.
however, I now have my first crash! I was about 60ft away and it kinda suddenly went to the left, I gave it input to correct it but it must have turned around on me because I drove it right in, I was only about 10ft up. It happened so fast I didnt have time to throttle up and try the other way. I guess I just lost orentation with it.
good news, just broke the skids and blades and the frame is all cracked and busted on one side from the skids. I glued it back together and it seems ok. I'm sure if I crash again I'll have to replace the frame tho..

Glueing the frame is not a great idea, unless it is not a stress bearing area. The rotor head can put alot of stress on the frame.

I thought that maybe because its down low above the skid mount it would be ok..??

Wow, that was a pretty good one! Spend the 25 bucks and get a new frame and get that thing back in the air! Sorry it happened but if it makes you feel better, we all do it.
