Default Rapter 30 v1

I just got this heli and am trying to set it up. I am using a DX7 Spectrum Transmitter with it. This heli set for about eight months and was flown in Germany. Everything seems to be set up right but the engine wants to over speed big time! We have tried to set the throttle curves, the pitch curves, and the idle up and hold according to the book. But it really over speeds...and when I go into idle up it goes bananas...I started with Normal being 0, 30, 50, 75, and 100 for the Throttle curves, 100, 85, 60, 85, 100 for Idle-up 1. Made Idle-up 2 to match one so that if I hit the switch it wouldn't do anything more. The Pitch curves were set for Normal 18,38,55,75,94 according to the book. I have the blades set up to intermediate, -4, 6 deg for hover, +10. Both blades are the same on both sides, I have re-adjusted the engine to 1-1/2 turns out, (O.S. max32SX-H), and re-adujusted the low end to factory settings, (very close), engine runs pretty good but for some reason it wants to over speed all the time. So then we started backing off the Throttle curves ending up with 100, 23, 13, 23, 100 for idle-up 1 and it still wants to over speed. I need help here, anyone have any suggestions? Thank you in advance for any help I recieve.

up the pitch rather , the throttle curves you have now is VERY low.

Are you hovering on midstick?

Here is what is set in the transmitter right now.
Pitch Curve Hold 15, 38, 55, 75, 100
Normal Pitch Curve 18, 33, 50, 70, 91
Idle-up 1 Pitch Curve 0.0, 22, 46, 70, 90
Throttle Curve Normal 0.0, 30, 50, 75, 100
Idle-up 1 100, 85, 60, 85, 100

I realize these are all screwed up, can you tell me what each should be, a good starting point for me?
Thank you.

Yes! I can. I do pretty good, probably Intermediate. I know how to fly but didn't say I know how to do setup! LOL! I have a .30 Concept but someone else had it setup years ago when I got it. So I am now just learning to do setup.

Thank you, but affording that book isn't in my budget, you see I am disabled and on Social Security Disability. I traded for the Raptor 30. Thank you though.

BarracudaHockey can you look at the setup I mentioned above and give me some place to start? It would be very much appreciated.

Try this then http://www.raptortechnique.com

Needle, pitch, and throttle settings are dependent on a lot of things, density altitude, weather, nitro percentage, muffler etc. I do most of it by ear.

the way you mention pitch curves doesnt really say anthing , you must get a pitch gauge and see what pitch the blades are at every throttle position.

this way at half stick if the blades overspeed you can increase the pitch at that throttle position to help with overspeeding.

I've been using a pitch guage but there is something really wrong because the engine after it gets about a half a tank through it, it really over speeds, I have reset everything, control linkages, ect back to exactly as the book says, took out the tank replaced all the lines, inside and out, replaced all the other fuel lines to the extra tank as well. Thanks for the web site...I will keep trying to learn...something is not right...just haven't quite figured it out but I will...there's nothing that can't be fixed...

Half tank you say?

Pull the tank and run some fuel lines above the water level and blow in one and pinch the other and look for air bubbles. Raptor frames have a habit of wearing holes in the alignment nubs on the tank and making them leak.

Get it to a local flying field with heli pilots let them set it up for you

Thanks Guys! I really appreciate your help. BarracudaHockey, the book you told me about, it turns out that Ray, the author actually has one that was autographed and not given, and since he can't resell it, he re-autographed it for me and it is on it's way. Thank you all so much, I also have a guy at the local field in Celina that is going to help set it up on Sunday. Thank you all so much, very much appreciated.
