Decals Under Fiberglass
Has anyone embedded decals under fiberglass resin before? I am a boat builder and would like all my designs under the fiberglass top coat so it stays smooth and snag free. Will the resin eat regular waterslide type decal film? Will it attack the vinyl type or bead up on it? The only thing I know about polyester resin for fiberglass is it eats styrofoam like crazy, and would like to hear if it does the same to decals before I goof. I know I could probably test a piece but thought I would ask if anyone has ever tried it yet to save me the trouble.

RE: Decals Under Fiberglass
Haven't tried to embed decals in resin, but I do make my own waterslide decals on an inkjet printer.
Because the decals are deposition type, they must have a clearcoat to prevent the ink flaking off. The [link=http://www.beldecal.com]decal paper manufacturer [/link]recommends Krylon Acrylic Crystal Clear, as it will not affect the ink.
If that clear coat won't affect ink jet decals, surely it won't affect the store-bought variety.
The clear coat eliminates the 'edge' of decals, BTW.
