biplane flaps question
Hi all.
Has anyone put flaps on a biplane? I have a waco 1/6 scale and was considering trying it. I think if they were on the bottom wing, it might need more up elevator input than if they were on the top wing. Do you all think it might work?
Thanks in advance.
Randy

I HAVE GOTTEN INTO THAT ADVENTURE. THE CONCEPT BEHIND FLAPS IS SLOWING DOWN AND AID IN SOME MANUVERS.WITH A BIPLANE IT IS MOSTLY PROBLEMS IN THE MAKING.THEY HAVE SO MUCH LIFT AND DRAG.THEY ARE VERY SLOW ON LANDING.SO THERE IS REALLY NO BENIFIT AT ALL.I CRASHED A VERY BEAUTIFUL PITTS BECAUSE OF MY FLAP IDEA. HAVE A GREAT DAY

biplane flaps question
I have flaps on a 1/5th scale WACO SRE bipe. They are on the upper wings as on the full scale. When they are deployed the plane pitches up sharply and you have to hold in down elevator until the plane slows way down, then it calms down and it will do a nice landing. I think it acts that way because the flaps have model-type barndoor hinges. A semi-fowler type flap probably wouldn't act that way.

biplane flaps question
I was thinking about a bipe with a servo on each of the four ailerons and also on individual channels. I'm wondering what would happen if the ailerons were crowed.
Top ailerons up, lower ailerons down. Or vice-versa. I'm guessing I'd have a rekit if I did that too close to the ground.

biplane flaps question
Thanks Geppetto! The plans were either from MAN or RC modeller, not sure which. It was originally 72" and I enlarged it to 80" to make it 1/5 scale and to fit the engine I wanted to use, a Homelite 25cc. It's covered with coverite and painted with Rustoleum paints. The red pinstriping is Goldbergs trim tape. It weighs about 14# and flys great. The first fight was kind of hairy because the CG needed to be about 1/2 in. forward of what was on the plan. After that it calmed down and flies normally.
Dario Brisighella had a set of 1/4 scale plans which would be really nice but I don't think they're available anymore.
