Windex (the streak fee window cleaner kind) alittle bit of rubbing alcohol and a soft cloth. Paper towels have been known to scratch untra coating. Best think would be Gerber Baby wipes. I have used just the baby wipes and it has leaves the covering pretty shinny.

I have found 409 to work best. I have tried other cleaners that will do a better job removing the oil from the plane, such as Mean Green, but they leave an oily residue on the plane. It is 409 to remove the oil and a follow up wipe down with Windex if I want the plane to sparkle.

A lot of windshield washer fluid contains methanol, the same as glow fuel so I suppose it cuts the oil.
I never made the connection until reading this thread. I need some wiper fluid for my truck anyhow so I'm going to give it a shot.

I use just plain Windex and an old hand towel. Once in a while go over the entire plane with Top Flite Polish. I do like the windshield washer idea, got to give that a try. I do not use paper towels on them. I do believe it can scratch and the old hand towels get a washing once a week with the other towels and it saves a bit of money on paper.

Don't use the glass cleaner that's really blue in colour - it can stain white *kote pale blue. Go on, ask me how I know. [:@]

If you get the windshield washer solution you need to make sure that it alchol based. They do make some that is water based and it does not work well. Any one that lives in snow country will have it at the parts store. I got a spray bottle and as mentioned drop in a few drops of liquid dish soap, shake and clean. It is the best cleaner that I have ever used. Good Luck, Dave

The Windshield washer does work very well as long as it is the alcohol base fluid.
You can also make up a special sauce on your own for less money.
1 Gallon plastic bottle.
1 Pint rubbing alcohol
3 drops dish washing soap.
Fill the gallon bottle half full of water, add the additional ingredients, Shake Do not stir. Fill the rest of the bottle, shake again.................
With an old spray bottle total cost has to be under $0.50, the cheapest cleaner available.
Thanks for the recipe: Grumpy Old Guy's Secret Sauce

I ran across this at our local Dollar Tree store. $1.00 for a 32 ounce container. So far i have mixed it at 5 to 1 with tap water and it works great on cleaning up the planes and the oil left behind after flying. I have a hunch that it could be mixed 10 to 1 with good results as well. Might want to give this one a try. It is called LA's Totally Awesome.
