Default Sand paper review

Sick of the expense of hobby sand paper, and the low quality of construction sand paper I set out to find better abrasives. Through research I found [link=http://www.dura-gold.com/]http://www.dura-gold.com/[/link]. I bought various grit sizes in sheets and PSA rolls. I must say Ive never had better sand paper in my life. It out performs expensive 3M abrasives!!!! The PSA has enough "stick" to stay on my easy touch sanders but not enough to leave paper behind. I was having to use paint thinner to get the other brand off every time I needed to change paper. This paper holds up to alot of sanding, meaning the grits actually stay on the paper. With high load material, like old paint, the paper stayed pretty clean and loaded less than the other brands. To top it off its dirty cheap! A sheet of 9x11 at the local hardware store can be as much as $1USD a sheet!!!! Duragolds distributor [link=http://www.tcpglobal.com]http://www.tcpglobal.com[/link] sells in bulk at a price that is almost HALF that.

Also tcpglobal.com sells these cool long board sanders that are slightly flexible to get nice smooth sanding on curved surfaces like a wing skin. I have not pick up any yet to test it, but it sure is a cool idea!!!!

Post other experiences with sand paper brands or other tips.............

If your sand paper won't come off without leaving paper behind use your heat gun, instead of thinner.

KISS brand fingerboards found at Walgreens do a great job on shaping balsa. They are cushioned backed, come in all grit sizes and last a long time.

Once in awhile I get bored and grab a whole bunch of odds and ends scrap wood, popsicle sticks ,etc. And I spray them up with adhesive, and some varied sandpaper as well. I sit down and just make tons of varied sanding pieces. I have even split pvc pipe on the saw and made inner and outer radius sanding bars..It is SO handy to have them. I usually make up extra for a good buddy of mine as well.. He always keeps his eyes open for anything that would benefit us, so its the least I can do.
