Default What technique should I use for applying accents?

I’m working on a ¼ scale sig cub and I need help deciding what to use for the lighting bolt and numbers. I’m using a 1.20 4c so it needs to be fuel proof and it will be covered with Cub yellow Solartex.

My options are;
Have vinyl cut then clear it.
Have a stencil cut and spray pant it with Lustercoat. I could have problems with bleed under.
I could cut Monocoat for the lighting bolt and have vinyl cut for the numbers. Then I would not have to clear it. I think the numbers on the wing are far enough way from the exhaust that it should not affected.

What do you think is the best way? Do you have a different option?

Mask it off and paint with black fuel-proof paint.

BUT... before you paint it black, paint it cub yellow. This way, the yellow will bleed through and seal any leaks in the masking tape. Let the yellow dry, then paint with black. When you remove the tape, you won't see the yellow bleed, you'll only see the nice, crisp black edges

Like minnFlyer suggests but I would use clear rather than yellow (I have never been impressed with paint color mach to covering color). This would be my first choice for both the stripe and numbers.

I wouldn’t recommend film coverings on solertex, as solertex is slightly porous because of the weave. I have used vinyl on coverrite 21century but would be skeptical of vinyl or pressure transfers on solertex. Maybe some one has tried it and can elaborate.

If you where using a plastic film covering( ultracoa, Monokote, blackbaron, or the like) my second choice would be to cut every thing out of monokote and use the pres and seal method.

I have and offer the graphicxs for the Cub.

Available as a mask or vinyl. Like many of my offerings, they are not shown in my website. One day I'll get around to updating the site. [sm=bananahead.gif]

Charles
Do you have the N numbers for the cub? If you do what is the size of the numbers, wing and tail?

Can I get the numbers in vinyl and the lightning bolt in mask?

What would the cost be for 2 of each wing numbers, tail numbers and lightning bolts?

Steve,

Guys tell me the "N" number that they want, same with the large wing numbers. Vinyl or mask it makes no difference. I can make them any way you want.

Cost depends on size. I've made lettering for Cubs as large as 140". That could be third scale? The "N" number for that Cub was "N4862J." But, as I said, I'll make any number. Some guys use their AMA number.

I have my AMA number on my Waco, "36871."

PM me with the model size.

OK? OK!
