I need either a piston, a piston/cylinder assembly, or a new or used MVVS .26 Combat Special engine. I have the engine in a custom-built twin I gave to a friend and one of the c-clips broke and it scarred the piston. Can anybody help!

I have a new on in the box if you still need it. It has the top fin bent as my son dropped it when he was 10. I also have used .26 and some .21's not doing combat anymore don't really know what condition there is as they were thrown in a box after some mid-airs.

I recently picked up an old Pilot (OK Models) F-16 kit 25size. I've always wanted one of these since I saw a completed one hanging in a garage in the 80's. All reports I've read said it can use all the power it can handle. Short of a Dub Jett I was thinking the MVVS .25s were supposed to be it. Is this no longer the case? They seem to have disappeared as I can't find any US retailers selling them. Are the .25FX or Magnum XLS just as powerful?

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,

Go for a MagnumXLS.25. Great engine.
Will beat (with muffler baffle out), any MMVS.25/.26 I have seen.

We don't bother with them, but a 'mousse can pipe' would add 1.5K +more RPM...

Cheers,

Take care,

The MVVS engines were somewhat finicky and never as strong as the OS .25 FX. Plus the OS engine worked perfectly with a very easy to tune carb. I especially would not choose the MVVS for a twin as they were not as reliable as the OS. The New Magnum XLS series are supposed to be basically the same as the old OS FX .25. I have not owned one of those though.
The .25 FX is one of the greatest model airplane engines ever made.

I found a good MVVS 26 on the black mini pipe to be faster than any other production 25 including the Weston tuned Webra based West 25.

In combat fast is good.

But for cosistancy the OS is hard to beat.

Hi vertical grimmace and j.dunker,

A 'baffle out' OSFX.25/MA9-4/15% is our 'Benchmark' power, for Maac Scale Combat.

No Doubt, it is a GREAT engine! (no need for me to sell it ! )

We have been running MagXLS.25s since we could get them here in Canada...

The nice thing, it is equal power to an OSFX.

You can tell that 'Combat Pilots' influenced the design...

Zero problems after several gallons... just like any FX...

Cheaper here, so new pilots are getting them.

Try One. Mine is very Nice ! ! !
(I would run it more, but I'm trying to wear out my OSFXs too... )

Take care,
