I've got a plane set up in elevon mode. I would like to program a switch to give me a bit of up elevator for takeoffs. After takeoff, flip the switch and go back to normal elevator. I can't see how to do it as some of the functions that would work apparently are not available in elevon mode. Thanks.

As discovered, some functions such as setting a switched Flight Condition or P.Mix for "elevator" to be
"held up/raised" during launch, are not possible whilst "Elevon" is enabled for a GP or EP Delta.

Delta (Flying Wing) Launch Mode:
For those that desire a little extra Up Elevator during launch:

1. Model Type GLID, use the launch Function (as attached).

2. Model Type ACRO (Launch Function and some other mixes are disabled)
. Select [Camber Mix] during intial setup, assign switch G then enable "On" = Launch mode,
in forward position and flip back "Off" for normal flight.
. Return to CAMB.Mix screen, set:
AILE> Normal "S" OFF (& ON)
AILE: 0% / +50%, change to ELEV screen., set:
ELEV> Normal "S" OFF (& ON)
ELEV: 0% / -50%
Tested AOK on Twinjet, adjust % as required. The A9 monitor is a good guide..

Alternatively, If not already using dual elevator rates for speed purposes, simply dial in a "high"
elevator rate for takeoff/landing and a "Low" rate for flight.
Alternatively, change the elevator dual rate switch to a three position switch as attached.

I don't want a different rate, I want both elevators (elevons) to be raised a bit on takeoff.

For a little up with the elevons on take off just program a flight condition on a three position switch. For take off, flight condition 1 has a little more trim up. Flight condition 2, trim for level flight at maybe half throttle, and flight condition 3, trim for wide open throttle. You haven't changed the control rate, just the trim position. I learned this several years ago and works great with fast wings.......

Mando,

I thought about that, but the manual makes no mention of being able to have different trims as a flight condition. Guess I should have just tried it.

Thanks.

Oh yeah, It only takes a smidge of up for take off, any more than that and it'll want to go straight up.......and double check EVERYTHING with the settings in each condition to insure they are the same.

JVB,

I wanted to be able to do the same thing with my FunJet.... This what I did... the FunJet does not have flaps but I chose a delta model that had flaps so I could assign some up elevator to a switch for hand launches...

1) System->Model Type -> Flying Wing "2Aile+1Flap" 2 Servo

2) Model->2/2->FLAP CON

Mix: On
Switch: SW-A

0
Flap: 0%
Elev: 0%
1
Flap: 100%
Elev: 50%

cxcooper,

Thanks. I accomplished what I wanted a bit differently. I too have a Funjet (ultra). I went back through the setup so that I had Spoilerons. I then had the airbrake function listed. I adjusted values (don't have them in front of me) such that when on, it gives me a touch of up on both surfaces for takeoff. I then set up two flight conditions, takeoff and high, along with normal on a three-way switch (C I think). Low position is takeoff, then normal then high. For takeoff, I have the airbrake engaged and low throws, for normal I have the airbrake off and low throw and I have higher throws set up on the high condition. Seems to work well. Can't wait to maiden it. We got 11 inches of snow yesterday so it will be a while.
