The picture appeared in an ad for the 4-6 May Yakima Aerotow meet. The ad appeared on page 64 of the May 2012 issue of RC Sport Flyer Magazine.

Thanks,

Harvey

This design shows up as a small inset labeled "Dagling" on the Anfanger or Hols der Teufel drawing in Vintage Sailplanes on page 37. This is an early 1923 version of the design. It was later simplified where it lost the "bird cage" of rear supporting struts in favour of a flat truss style. The design comes from Alexander Lippisch and was a forerunner to the Zoegling primary glider.

Thanks. Do you know if plans or a kit are available for it?

Harvey

Harvey:

I have plans (vintagesailplaner.com) for the "dagling. (sic)"

My plans are for the Manuel Condor. I really think it is the Manual Condor NOT the Dagling. There are not so subtle differences between the two.

They are are only 1/4 scale - but could be enlarged!
GOOD LUCK
Jim
PS: Built one a LONG time ago. Really was a crowd getter at the field. Less than fun to highstart/winch launch BEFORE aero-towing.
PPS: Oh did I mention the rigging...............
PPPS: I can try to post a pic of the plans if you are interested?

Hi:
Back again:

Got more info;

It is on page 139 of Jane's World Sailplanes: Andrew Coates: Flying Books, Ziff-Davis, 1978 copyright Great Britain.

Mr. W.L. Manuel also design the Willow Wren (as neat) built in 1975/6. 15.3 m; WS, Gott. 462 airfoil. Mine had about the same undercamber, but a good foil for scale gliding speed.

If interested I can send a set of plans to you at my cost (3-large sheets)

Good Luck
Jim

Hi Jim,

Yes, I'd like to get a copy of the plans. I'll send you a PM with my e-address and we'll talk off-forum.

Thanks for this!

Harvey
