What engines are availible for the 2.5 that can drop in without any other modifications? ALso, I would like to keep the EZ-Start system.

Thanks!

There may be others, but I know the Fantom FR-18 will drop in with 0 mods, and accept the E-Z start. Also, Picco is working on a larger engine that will also drop in with 0 mods and accept the ez start.

Don't forget the Sirio .18. I had a Picco .12 in mine for a little bit there. You should be able to fix most of .12, .15, and .18. Well good luck

I bought my Fantom from Stormerhobbies.com - Still not done with break in. Very unique motor. Seems like it has a ton of power already.

badboy2 - The EPIC is awesome (I have one and love it like crazy) but it is a side exhaust engine. Fantom and Sirio are rear exhaust and will bolt right in. The EPIC would require a little more work (pipe, header).

Someone has either produced or is in the process of producing a .21 drop-in. I think it's Sirio - can't be too bad. Oh never mind, you want to keep the EZ start. I don't know whether this engine will/does accept it.

NO, get a Venom or Ofna failsafe, about $25-30 each.

And the .21 "drop-in" (no mods) engine is the Picco P2 ( http://werksracing.com/index.jsp ). It is designed to use the std. EZ Start II, too!!

It'll hit the street in early January, sell for about $175-220, and if brand history & reputation means anything, it will kick the ass of every drop in engine available!!!!

Get in line.....

Thanks for the info Dean!

I will definitely buy one of those Picco .21 P2's.
Could you direct me to where I can get one of those Venom or Ofna failsafes?

Thanks!

I have the Fantom - but I have not finished breaking in the motor yet. Figure in the next few weeks I will.

Here's a pic of Picco's .21 Maxx drop-in!! Sounds sweet, and I'm sure will run like a MF!! All the one's suggested are good mototrs, I really haven't heard bad about any of them!!! But personally I'll stick with the 2.5, $105 shipped w/trade-in of my old motor, and it completly rips!! No need for more!!

The P2 looks pretty kick ass!! but its not out till jan 31st and its $300.
I would probably have to do some serious beefing up to handle the power wouldnt i?

and do you have any gearing suggestions for use with the sirio.. or fantam?

Gearing for a .18 you may want to start a new thread and ask! Beefing up for the P2, yes, steel gears and axles atleast!!

Do a search - many people have asked and gotten advice on the Fantom - that is what I did and that helped me decide.

Parts and availability and price. At the time - no one had the Sirio in stock and when it was in stock it was $50 american more dollars.

That and the Fantom has more base horse power - it is only a minor difference but all the same, why not.

I bought it from Stormerhobbies.com for $149.99 american.

With the dollar being so weak vs. the Pound & Euro, we might have to ask your Europeans to do our buying for us...

...from American retailers!!
