It is a good looking airplane but the covering job on the tail section is terrible. I could have done better.

Looks like they used Monokote!! Should have used Ultracote! But my question to you is if France is such a fine manufacturer, how come they cant use their own engines!!!! Remember a brick can fly with enough power!!

555 passengers. Sounds like it will be capable of carrying over 800 (when the gimmicky areas get more seats.)

Wait, let me get this straight. The 747 has been out for 36 years, and European designers finally got enough degrees from U.S. universities to be able to come up with a design that competes with the 747, and this is cause for gloating?!

Airbus should be commended for their hard work, and I hope it pays off for them, but give the "once again, we kick the butt of all other aircraft manufacturers" crap a rest. Sheez, and they call us "ugly Americans." Maybe you would be more humble if the U.S. companies beat their chest more for the dozens of aircraft innovations over the past few decades that are now part of that modern marvel of a Guppy.

Virgin atlantic has already ordered 6 of these planes and plane to install private bedrooms so people can join the mile high club instead of having to use one of the tiny bathrooms, i think i will have to sign up for that (i just wonder if one of the hostesses will join you if you are flying alone) these planes are big and they are planneing on fitting these planes to have bars boutiques and health clubs?? the biggest should be able to carry 850 passengers. so far 150 of these planes have been ordered

All should bear in mind that commercial aircraft produced by U.S. businesses are researched, designed, engineered, and produced without any funding from a government or by taxes provided by the people.

Airbus is essentially a consortium of businesses almost completely funded by the French and British governments. It's pretty nice to know that even if you fail with a design, you will still be guaranteed enough capital to continue with the next design.

Airbus has to sell 600 of those things before they must begin to pay back the offsets from the gummint.
They will never sell that many.

Yeah, that's a great achievement. A great choice for us modellers ! Too bad innovations/number of manufacturers is going down.

Well, if you think aviation innovations are going downward in the U.S., you have fallen asleep, or possibly you, as a Frenchman, discount the cutting edge innovations in the military? You know, stealth, supercruise, intercept missles... maybe you missed that insignificant first private space flight thing a few months ago?

Yeah, it's a shame we here in the U.S. live in such a aeropace-backward environment- please lead the way, France.

On a more serious note, anyone want to venture a guess as to whether this guy is a troll or just a bozo?

There is no doubt in my mind that the A380 is already an astounding aircraft. But to say "you" kick the butt of all other airplane manufacturers is ignorant. She also has not left the ground yet, so there really isnt much to celebrate. The real test is when that thing hits Vr and it gets off the ground. Wonder if it can do a roll like the 707 did? I can see this thread going no where and getting pointless fast.....

Yeh when Airbus designed this plane they forgot to actually figure out if it will fly. I have actually read on aviation forums that some people think the A-380 is too big and heavy and it will never even get off the ground. Are these people serious? As for doing a roll. Gee thats real usefull for an airliner.
I think the "boeing" people that bag this aircraft are forgetting that Airbus is the industry leader in airliner manufacturing. Yes thats right last year airbus delivered more airliners than boeing.
Let's see

717 Cancelled
737NG Doing the best of the lot
747 Struggling
757 Cancelled
767 Hanging by a thread
777 Doing pretty well

If I were boeing I would be more than a little concered.
P.S. I consider myself a Boeing man.
