Got mine and am ready for a maiden. I looked back over 10 pages of this forum and didn't see anything about this plane. The 40 and 60 have Threads, why not the 150. I have heard from someone in my club that the stabalizer could break if not supported with flying wire on the bottom of it. Have any of you experienced this with your 150's? Here's mine just waiting for a sunny day. Then it's Maiden time.

I hope you keep this thread going like the 40 size,

I guess nobody is interested in the Twist 150 so I'll just let it die. I don't get it. Is this plane that unpopular or just to expensive when you can get the 2 smaller ones for a lot less? I really was hoping to hear from some of the Twist 150 flyers. I'm kind of tired of sharing the 40 and 60 size threads.

Status: offline 		I think that for the price, there are many other choices so this plane has not been real popular. The 60 size gets discussed but the 150 size seems to be a plane without a good audience. I did see one at my local Hobby Shop for $149 that made me look twice though...

Status: offline 		I'm flying the 150 with a Saito 150 on it. The only issue I have discovered is that I need to use a prop no larger than 17" for ground clearance. Even a 17X6 catches a fair bit of grass at our field. I had originally flown it with an OS 1.20AX. I like the Saito better, but I'm thinking of going back to the OS.

Status: offline 		Solution: If possible....change that landing gear. If you're like me you got spare this that and everything in your shop. You really need a larger prop for a fourstroke. Saito website says you can use up to an 18x6 for this engine...use all power this engine can deliver by use of the proper prop. Do yourself a favor ...get an APC 18x6W from Tower or your favorite local Hobby store, tune that Saito 150 up for optimal performance, and thank me later. You'll love the power. Put the O.S. 1.20 aside for a 1.20 sized plane.

I'm running an APC 18x6W on my Saito 150 but haven't been able to fly mine yet. The weather has been bad. Our field is maintained by the township where the field is and the grass is usually only about 1" tall. I really like the looks of the wheel pants or I would just use the same gear and run larger tires on it. I'm going to check it out and if I see the prop clearence is an issue that is unbearable I'll have to make a change. I think I have about 1 3/4" of clearence.

Status: offline 		What servo's are you guys using for aileron/rudder/elevator ???? How much are they each???? ( for the 150 size )

I have had several twist 40's and have just completed building my 60 size with 3305 futaba servo's and a Magnum 4 stroke 91.

I really like these airplanes

I'm using 3305's in my 150 but I'm using a 6V 2000 MaH NiMH battery pack for higher torque. With the 4.8 pack the torque would be at the bottom of the chart and at 6 volts it's 124 oz. in. Right in the middle of the specs.

Status: offline 		I'm using the same battery pack for mine. Oops...I posted a reply and some pics in the 40 and 60 size forum of my 150. I guess will repeat myself in this one. I just had the maden flight a few days ago. JR 126 mg servos all around, Saito 180GK, ar7000 reciever and my first arf. This thing takes off like a rocket, all it needs is a few feet of runway and half or less throttle and it's airborn. I hope these pics come out alright.

Oh one other thing I did, Dubro longer servo arms.

I crashed my Twist 60 because of dumb thumbs and now on my third flight after I maidened my 150 I came in over what we call a berm. It's a little hill we must clear because it's an above ground gas line they decided to cover with dirt and now weeds. Well one of the weeds is in reality a small tree. If you don't fly slightly over the berm in altitude the floating Twist will stay up forever. Our field where the grass is mowed short is not very long. I was under the instruction of my 3D instuctor who also taught me how to fly and we both thought the tree was back with the larger trees I already cleared. Well it WASN'T!!! The tree is no more!!! I usually fly earlier in the day and the Sun isn't a factor so when I land I come in alot closer to myself a long ways from the trees. This is the first and last time I will land coming in from that angle. Anyway it was a dumb mistake by my friend/instructor and myself. I bought a new Twist 150 today but found a club member that wants to sell an almost new Saito 1.50 for $175.00 because he doesn't know how to tune it. He is a nice fella but won't accept anyones help, so I took off the covering to see how bad the damages really were. I am really a scratch builder of Giant Warbirds so I am now going to fix it. I'm going to re-cover the whole plane in yellow with black strips and name it Bumble Bee seeing as how it loves flowers and trees. Here it is.

I have the Saito 150 in mine and before it crashed it had so much power I was flying the plane around at less than 1/4 throttle. I never even went full throttle but I bet it would go verticle until it ran out of gas. The 150 is a very tight fit and you still have to dremmel out a lot for the throttle arm. Anything bigger and you might have to cut the cheeks off. I think the Saito 180 is an over kill and I'm not familiar with the gas engine and it's dimensions. Go with a 125 or 150 and you will have more than enough power.

Here is my final attempt at getting along with a Twist. I have flown for years and have never crashed a plane I've built and in less than three weeks have crashed two Twists. I don't think they like me. I hope with this one we can get along. Well here are some pic's of my new one complete with a Pilot this time to watch out for trees. I'm going to Maiden her tomorrow.

I'm hoping to maiden my Twist 150 today if my schedule works out. If I do I'll let you know the outcome. I hope this time there is a happy ending to the story!!! By the way wise choice with the Saito 150. If I didn't already have the 150 I would have gone with the 125 knowing what I do now.

Hanger 9 and Horizon say an Evolution gas engine will fit. Check out Horizons Web Site and search for the Twist 150. The spec list will give you the size. Then if you put one in tell me how it went. I only use gas engines in my Giant Warbirds I build to scale. I'm interested in where your going to put the ignition battery and so forth. The 150 Saito is like sticking 10 lbs. of poop in a 5 lb. bag.

Shirley, you don't mean that.

In post 16 you say the saito 150 is a wise choice...then say you'd rather go with a 125. Which one would you reccomend for 3D flying?

I think the 1.25 would be plenty of power. I have one in my FuntanaX 100 and it is 12.5 lbs and it does fine. It's not the greatest for vertical but then it weighs 2.5 lbs more than the heaviest Twist 150 combination. If I were to recommend one and you wanted to be sure you had everything you could want, I'd haqve to say then do as I did and go with the 1.50. Beware I've flown just a little and with a 24oz. fuel tank my 1st gallon of fuel is almost 2/3 gone. The 1.50 sucks the fuel much more than the 1.25. I'm hoping that after it's completely broken in and I can lean it out it won't hurt the wallet as much. Better start buying by the case if you go 1.50 or bigger. What I meant about I would of gone with the 1.25 is the manner in which I fly. I'm not into real heavy duty 3D. If you are by all means get the 1.50

Status: offline 		I see what you mean...and I am familiar with the Saito 1.50...got one in my H9 Cessna 182. And, I have a Saito 1.25 in mt H9 Funtana & has good vertical.
For the guy asking about putting a G38 in this plane---I don't even think that's possible. G26...possibly, but will lack vertical power. Light and powerful is the key. Yes, I am big into 3D and I'm considering getting this plane. Already have the Twist 60 and love it.

Status: offline 		Please....have respect for the dead....get a body bag! I startrd with 40....went thru 3 of those before I figured out they don't hover very well. Got a 60 and figured out my O.S. 90 four stroke is a POS I'll never use again ( cost me 2 crashes, 1 a total loss of plane ) but 60 hovers much better than 40. Now they have this 150 out......Hmmmmmm......should I?....It's only money.
