Received our little NorCal group buy of Schlosser .25 and .5rc engines

These go to Chevy, Misfit Sailor and Skalliwag

Something tells me I'll have some flying buddies this weekend as they collect their goodies

Great Tim!
It will be like Dieselfest III

Skalliwag says he will come if Chevy comes.
I'm surprised Chevy can wait till saturday - I just know he is jonesin' to pull the back cover off his .25cc and look inside to see the bitsy ball bearings.

Those Schlossers are great engines. Wish I had a few pounds of them.

They also make a nice 1.0cc. 'Nuther reason to get a lottery ticket.

We brought them in from Germany.
A bit painful with the current exchange rate.

I've been flying a .25cc inverted in my littlest lancer. And with a 5.7x3 prop, it is plenty zippy.

Littlest Lancer

Dan I have one of the 1cc engines and it is a real jewel.
It is almost as strong as a bb mpjett but it starts so easily and is so well manored I actually enjoy it better and it seems not as critical on either compression or needle settings. In a teamrace scenerio it would win over the mpjett due to those reasons.

I understand the 1cc does quite well in freeflight competitions.

I'm just partial to the little guys

Bob,

My first choice for a Schlosser would be a 1.0cc, followed by a 0.5cc. When engines get smaller they need more fussin'

1.5cc is actually my overall favorite size for small models.

Today I found some old cans of diesel fuel from the '80's and wanted to see if it was still good. I fired up three different PAW .09's and an old McCoy .09 diesel.

Tomorrow I may run a Frog 150 bluehead and a '51 Elfin 1.5cc.

The neighbors are all gone in the morning and only the next door lady comes home at noon so I have a window when I can run engines without bothering anyone.

The closest I ever got to a Schlosser was this custom display box I made for a friend.

Germany is quite "large", do they have any website?

For once I would be on the right continent and the exchange rate hasn't changed lately either...

I am going to try to make contact with Her Schlosser to see if I can import them and sell them.
With the US$ being weak, no email at the other end and language dif there are a lot of logistics to sort.

Here you are: my two new Schlossers in action! 1st is the .25cc spinning an APC 5.7x3, 2nd is the .5cc R/C turning a 7x3 wood.

The .25 is amazingly quiet with it's exhaust collector. The carb on the .5 actually has an adjustable air bleed and a throttle stop.

The Schlosser carbs are excellent and share credit for the engines running so well. I have a Schlosser 1cc rc carbie on my PAW 06 MK I, and it makes all the difference in the world! With the crude PAW carb, the engine did not idle or throttle well. But now it does. Superbly! Regards. -Gary

I just posted my misadventures with trying to dieselize the TD .010 and broke two cranks in the process. So I asked if there was a small diesel out there that had a crank that i could stuff in. Looks like I found it. How does one go about getting these Schlosser engines?

Andy Hi,
You either have to write(on paper) to Her Benno Schlosser himself, note :- Benno doesnt speak or read english , his daughter apparently translates for him, so dont expect a fast reply.
Or you can purchase through David Owen here in Oz, be warned either way they arent cheap. Current price from DO for a .25cc is A$248, .5cc is A$238 or A$295 for R/C , 1cc is A$235 and R/C A$290.
Stewart
PS I beleive Benno recently turned 85, so for how much longer he will be makeing engines ?

What do you think, Andy? Interested in paying that much for a Schlosser? I am feeling tempted, but the price is steep.
