I followed vgoose over here. I also would like to see some more scale ships. There doesnt seem to be much action in the scale ship area since its creation. I have been building a sterling USS Missouri forever. All that deck detail started driving me mad as I wanted a more scale look and the kit supplied stuff is garbage. I am scratchbuilding most of it. Anyone else build one of these and have pics for inspiration. Mine has presently been mothballed for the last 5 years.

Vgoose,
I would but when I say mothballed, I meant mothballed. I just moved and it is currently in my offsite storage garage wrapped in bubblewrap and packed up at least until I get settled. It has just been a tedious project from the get-go. I think I may one day buy a fiberglass fuse from skunkworks and deck out the hull. I think a ziroli kit would go faster then what I was doing
I dont see this kit anywhere anymore and was hoping some else had one decked out. The plan detail is good, but the guns and deck detail is square blocks and dowels , with some toothpicks for masts kinda stuff. I was looking at some places a while back that make the lead cast guns and detail, but that is gonna be an investment. I have the basic super structure forms done, made a glass fuse that came out like crap, and hollwed out the stacks for smoke. That is about as far as I got.
When I get settled and pull it out, I will get some pics of her, but it might be a while.

No stress mate...

Just wanted to see stuff, and you will be forgiven for building planes over ships

Cheers

Hi,

I'm currently building a high speed yacht from the 1940's. The hull of the yacht was influenced by the WWII PT boats.

The model will be fairly quick for a scale boat and it will have a very detailed interior/exterior with furnishings and full lighting in each room. This yacht is 49.5" long and 14" wide and will weigh in around 30LBS. Currently i'm working on wiring it up and doing plumbing in the engine room. I put about 8+ years work into this boat. There's a good possibility that I will be able to do sea trials this year but it will be another couple of years before I have every detail completed.

Here are some photos of her...

-Rich.

By the look of your stand, you painted the hull yourself??

Sexy!

Twin stern drives too... very cool.

Thanks.

You need to not OVERDO the scale parts. They can not be seen at all when the boat is on trhe water.............I built the BB in 1950 & RCd it with a 2 channel reed outfit. Looked & ran fantastic.
Use a geared down motor with a prop as large in diameter as the rudder. A 6 volt motor is PLENTY in high winds with a big slow speed prop.

Ha! Very cool.

I hadn't seen one of these until I moved to Canada... great party boat I would imagine.

Great job.

V6goose- My name is Rich Koll, and I am the designer of the true scale kits for Legend Model Boats. I am posting the web site address for Legend Model Boats, so you can take a grander for the true scale model that I scratch built to prove out the kit designs before they went to manufacture. I am not trying to sell you anything, but this is the best way to show the scale models with the running photos.

Great!

The attention to detail is excellent!

Adding a scale pilot would kick these over the edge.

Thanks Rich...
