Don't knpw much about that car, but looks cool. Have you looked into an aftermarket radio system with maybe micro servos?

nice buggy, not sure any hobby grade parts will fit it but you might find a controller
at a thrift shop that will work with it. Are there any stickers on it that tell what freq. it is ?

I have one of these. I ripped out the servo and replaced it with a standard hitech servo. I replaced the radio reciever and the board with an arduino micro controller and a blue tooth modem. Now I'm just looking for new gears to run the thing.

Here a list of cars with compatible electronics:
TYCO:
Bandit
Eliminator
Hi-jacker
Heads up hopper
Shocker
Blaster
Etc etc
I modified one of my wild thing hoppers and might be willing to sell the working original electronics. Personally unless you are goin for nostalgia I would throw a hobby servo and traxxas vxl-3m speed control so you can run 11.1v lipo. It will wheelie like an SOB. I set mine up with a losi insane 370.
Check out dragon hobbies .com there are other guys selling parts and lots of knowledge base
