Hopefully not too late on this one. Started near the end of season. Bought one and in the middle of modding it.
It's pretty clever engineering wise in the build.

I have already made mods to Polaris, and the experience was good for me.

Thanks Texx, cool Polaris too.

Yes, mods are in tthe works. Put 3s lipo in it and after 10mins the motor was burning Have Castle inrunner coming and rest of electronics courtesy of Hobby King.
It's tore down now waiting for the motor. We just got 26" of snow so it's a little deep out there anyway. Just didn't look right without a rider.
Some more pics....

Thank Bigtime4vt ..

This Polaris is now in the hands of my little son, and hugely fun with it in the snow.

Good luck with your future mods, and give us some pictures of your work.

Spiike - Bought mine off of Ebay for around $45 US. Then after Xmas, noticed WalMart had em on discount for $25. Just my luck. Sounds like more expensive in Ca.

Redbaron - Thanks, actually it does not. The shock springs are way too heavy for it. They are plastic pressfit shocks with steel spring. Could not get apart without breaking something.
Have some truck shocks ordered that should be a lot better. Front was too stiff making it bounce around and flip too easy.

Getting things done. Decided to try the plastic gearbox since I can not find the pitch of the brass pinion used. Ended up grinding off the gear that the pinion rides on and using a 32pt one. Afteer grinding, a test fit revealed it fits
perfectly up to next gear in line which IS 32pt. Used a fender washer to mount my Erc 400 size motor to. Also beefed up the track drive wheel as it was designed to slip on the slightest resistance. Replaced the
ridiculus yellow headlights with white ones from Rad shack. Used 480 ohm resister and put on 5vdc fan connector of esc. Using 11.1 3 cell lipo, 1000 mAh -perfect fit for batteery compartment. Run times should
be around 8-10 mins at least. Still pushing on with the snow almost gone here...

Anyone tried a nitro conversion in one of these? I've been thinking about it, but Iwas told the plastic chassis wouldn't be able to handle it. Would you have a heat problem with the plastic, or is the only issue impact resistance? The stock gearbox is kind of weak, so if it was replaced with abeltdrive system, would you have any serious problems besides actually mounting the motor?

Sorry if Imade any moron mistakes, Idon't have a whole lot of RCexperiance and I've never even seen a nitro engine in real life (only pictures).

Did you end up getting this thing running?

I have my rush torn down now and would like to figure out a brushless system to use that will also work well in my slash 2wd. I'm a newb to rc's in general but would like to build a sled that rips. Has anyone tried an extrovert style driver? That way you could punch the track and not worry about any slippage.

What did you use for steering servo?

Sedz, Yes, it runs great. Think I used a hi-tec hs-55 for the steering servo. Its a pain to take apart so I didnt double check. Using a GI Joe for a driver -adds some weight to the back. Can punch the track and it spins easily on snow. Think I need some more weight in the back. Sorry, been working on the real thing (ski doo) getting ready for winter. Can take more pictures if needed.
