Just a little something i started messing around with. i know it isn't going to be a race boat but might be cool to to run for my first boat.

the upgrades i'm tossing in it are. a R/X from one of my crawlers so it will be 2.4 ghz radio, a micro servo from one of my other crawlers, a 6 cell stick pack and a cheap china ESC. i water proofed the ESC and R/X earlier today. i have a older power performance motor that i might use i think it's a 20 T but not sure yet. the prop is still stock. all i have left to do is a motor mount and a battery mount both in the center as much as possible. going to try to keep some weight forward so it wont hop as much. any suggestions. post them. like it hate it.

I have a boat like that down at the wife dad's hunting area. Haven't used it in years but it was less then $30 and was a enjoyable time killer. I assume now the sucker will move at a decent pace? Is the rudder too small or such for it now?

RustedRC 05-25-2015 05:07 AM

I haven't got to run it yet. i'm in the process of making some mounts. since i'm using a bigger motor. i have to make a motor mount and a servo mount and a battery mount. so after i get some sheet metal and all the mounts done. i'll get to see how she runs.

Might not look like much but it's the motor mount and the servo/battery mount mock ups.

kinda funny it's maiden voyage was in my bath tube but there's no where around here to run it. next time i go to a lake or pond i'll take it with a full battery to see it in action.
it turned well in the space it had and seemed to have a ok amount of power for what it is. when i held it in place and throttled forward it would push enuff water to churn up against the walls of the tub. a little bit of tweeks, touch up's and the paint for the mounts then i'd say she's done. when ever i do get to take it out i will post of the performance. thanks for looking at the upgraded seahawk. i guess it's the V2 seahawk.

Fine a neighbor with a pool. :D With all the new stuff, does it float pretty deep?

RustedRC 06-04-2015 06:19 PM

During the tub test it did float a little heavy but not enuff for concern.might add some foam but we will see. don't think any neighbors would let that happen.

check out my youtube by searching: S30uploads RC hunter

I do all sorts of mods to cars trucks and boats, and have lots of Nikko boats I plan on modding. So little time! Right now I'm working on an Aviva Fishn' Buddy, my new favorite boat.
I like to use NO Trespassing signs for sheet metal, lightweight and can be bent into strong structures. I use is for all sorts of stuff, including an aluminum roll from home depot.
My advice is ditch that battery and look at investing into 2s lipo batteries. I'm doing a giveaway soon for some Lipo chargers so be sure to sub. See you around MAFK!

those are known as toilet bowl tests in the RC modder jargon. =)

Doesn't matter if it's your tub, kiddie pool, rain water that built up on a tarp, it's a toilet bowl run. Just don't flush it.

RustedRC 07-21-2015 08:06 AM

good idea with the no trespassing signs. yes the battery is kinda big but a lipo would fry the cheep esc that i'm using. just don't flush thats funny. i like that.

RustedRC 05-16-2016 03:03 PM

Well i finally got to take the boat out for it's first real test. it's kind of loud but i'm glad it works.

Hey Rusted RC ,Glad I found you .Nice work on that boat.I will have to send you pics of my swamp air boat made from helli parts and dumpster finds .hope you don't mind me horning in on this conversation. keep up the good ideas Smoke Trail Charlie.

RustedRC 05-20-2016 10:52 AM

Hey thanks STC. heck yeah post up some pics of your air boat man. i don't mind you can jump in at any time with comments. i'm just glad there is other people out there that do things such as this.

smoketrailcharlie 05-20-2016 12:37 PM

Great will send pics soon, basicly my airboat is kind of like the swamp dog in the hobby shops.I bult mine with helli parts so I don't have a reverse. It's 2.4 gh and does get out and move,a bit heavy so I mar redo the deck and motor mount and prop guard.still working the bugs out of the amphib.A year or more ago I started a side wheel paddle boat using a thunder tumbler board and motors It worked better than i expected then I let the smoke out May have to get back at it.It had L>E>D>s and a working smoke stack,Pretty cool. Stay tuned S,T.C.

RustedRC 05-20-2016 02:27 PM

WOW that does sound cool. you can start a new thread so others can also see what you have done.
you could add new electronics to that paddle boat and bring it back to life.

smoketrailcharlie 05-20-2016 02:55 PM

now to find the time to fly my hellies ,best to ya stc

RustedRC 05-21-2016 02:37 AM

Hey rusted R C so glad your still at it. Still flying my Alias Quad and recently got into fixed wing. I am told there are few self taught rc pilots and even fewer surviving aircraft.I am presently working on a foam board scratch built glider. Next project rc hovercraft. My Springer tug boat is a kick in the pants and I live a stones throw from a great lake. So many toys so little time.I turned 80 in Feb.and refuse to grow up.Still letting the magic smoke out of projects but not as often .I mak a lot of motor mounts etc.from copper water fittings Easy to solder and work with,I also have good supply of copper strip so I try to think outside the box.Stay tuned and don't flush. Best to ya S.T.C..

RustedRC 09-30-2017 07:14 PM

i recently got a 1/5 scale herbie the love bug rc car. no controller but that's ok. good idea with making your own motor mounts man.
i will never grow up! i still watch cartoons and always will.

smoketrailcharlie 10-01-2017 07:33 AM
