What's better in snow - Stampede, or 4WD Slash?
Does the Stampede's larger ground clearance and bigger tires make up for the fact that it's only 2WD?
Just looking for bashing in my backyard and local park during long winter months.
All-out speed is not a factor.
Chances are I'd get a used one, but Ihaven't researched enough to decide if the new ones have improvements worth the extra money.
Thanks!

You can get a 2wd to go pretty good in the snow. If the snow isnt that deep, it will work well. If the snow is deeper, nothing is gonna matter - they'll just sink. My LST2's will go through the snow great if less than 3" deep. anything more and the tires spin and it sinks. I made tire chains for my Rustler with a 3.3 engine and it worked extremely well. Driving on ice was a breeze. I know an LST2 is no comparison to a stampede or slash but the idea is the same. You can make anything work with a little ingenuity.

My son's old Stampede w/dirt paw paddles was a blast in the snow. I am sure 4wd would be better but the Stampede is much cheaper and easier to maintain IMO.

I usually only run on crusty snow where a little more light powder has fallen.
But here's a guy who made his own tires chains for his Savage. He also installed the paddle tires on backwards so the paddles would push the snow down instead of just digging holes under the wheels:
