filter oil

RE: filter oil
If you have a chainsaw, the thick sticky gooey bar & chain oil works great and ounce for ounce is far cheaper than "air filter oil" and works better IMO. "Motor oil" as in 5w-30 and the like? No, it won't work well. It's not sticky, so it will run out of the filter and run into the engine rendering the air filter far less effective. I wouldnt use K&N filter oil either for the same reason. That stuff is designed for cloth type filters, not open cell foam.
RC glow engine air filters need sticky oil in them to work effectively.

RE: filter oil
air filter oil for motocross bikes is designed for foam air filters, and is as sitcky as its gets, and its designed for the job. where as bar and chain oil is designed to lubricate moving parts. until you have handles and or used belray air filter oil, you dont know sitcky!

RE: filter oil
I dont race motocross, so I use what I have. I've used air filter oil from Losi and Traxxas and the B&C oil is far stickier than the former and works better IMO. I use Simple green to wash the foam elements out.
