Got the XERUN for the Summit today. I was really impressed with the packaging. Out of box the experience is great so far. I can't wait to install it.
Big ole 2200kV SENSORED motor w/5mm shaft
Big, heavy ESC. It feels meaty. It came with pre-soldered Dean's connectors which is cool and unexpected. It has the included programmer so setting it up will be a piece of cake. Plus the ESC firmware is upgradeable too.

Packaging was nice! You can see the programmer there. Keep in mind that I paid $210 for this thing! Wow!
It came with Mod 1 and Mod .8 (32p) pinion gears, heat shrink, instructions, cd, etc.

Got the brushless system installed in the emaxx. It is a sensored Novak 6.5 HV motor that I upgraded to the 5mm shaft powered by a Hobbyking 120A ESC. The Novak HVMAXX ESC that it replaced crapped out. I have had two HVMAXX ESC's crap out, they must just never have been that good. I am running 17/68 gearing to start. I RTVd the second motor hole to keep dirt out of the gear area. This guy will mainly get run on 2x2S in parallel for my younger son, but I will definitely stretch its legs out on 4S from time to time.
It doesn't look like my hardcase 2S lipos will fit height wise so I will need to adjust the hold downs somehow.

The ESC was $45. I had the Novak HV 6.5 motor already but I really thought I should go ahead and upgrade the rotor from 3mm to 5mm for long term reliability. The upgrade kit was like $70. So, I was out the door $115 for this one.

Hey Dale, Ive read that the Xerun system is "splash proof". I guess that means its safe if you run through puddles and snow maybe. Are you planning to waterproof it even further just to be on the safe side and be able to get it wet? Im getting the same Xerun combo you got for your summit. Heck of a deal!

I cant wait. I have no patience. I want to slap in the BL system and go anywhere and everywhere with my summit. Im trying to decide between Plasti-Dip or CorossionX. Also, the Xerun ESC has a built in fan right? I dont know how im going to waterproof it until i get it and take it apart. Ive searched and searched and nobody has ever posted anything on waterproofing a Xerun ESC. I plan on running through water so I need it to be beyond splash proof and water resistant.

well liquid tape would be best for that. because you can use the brush to get in all the right places. you dont just want to cover it all. and yes it has a heat sink

RE: I paid $500 for these. I think it was a good deal...
I did end up getting the XERUN system installed into the Summit over the weekend. It was a piece of cake. I had the full system installed in about 30 minutes. I will post pictures later, I left my camera at home.
The install was simple. The only mod I made to the Summit was I drilled a hole in the battery box to be able to slip a ziptie through the battery box to pass a ziptie around the ESC. I kept the stock pinion gear (13 or 14 tooth, I can't remember) from the Summit on the new motor, but I swapped the spur gear to a 65T. I hooked up a couple 2S Turnigy 5200mAh packs and calibrated the ESC to the Traxxas radio.
The thing is stupid fast. I was laughing because it is so big and clumsy, it should not be going that fast. The suspension absorbed all of the power on take off so the truck wouldn't wheelie. I rolled it twice and I usually don't roll these things.
I am going to go with the P2 rockers and basically make the thing a Revo so I can get it closer to the ground and handling better for high speed bashing.
The motor still had a ton of torque in its low range speed. I crawled some stairs with it. I was too wussy to lock the diffs under this kind of power. I really don't plan to lock the diffs from hear on out unless I am on some really loose surface.
