Hello all! New to RC universe. I have spent plenty of time reading through this thread and glad that others are obsessed with their summit as I am. I have had my summit for about a year and a half now and I love it!!! A few upgrades on my truck include mamba monster 2 2200kv motor and esc. This motor is insane in this truck! I went through about 5 ring and pinions in the rear diff until I upgraded the diff cup to aluminum and have not had any problems since. I am running trencher x tires on desperado wheels but I just ordered mudslingers to go on axial beadlocks yeasterday Supppperrr excitedd to get these!! Here are a few pics of my truck. Glad to have some people to chat with about the amazing summit!
hope the images show up.

Nice truck, Id like to hear your opinion on the 2 diff tires when the slingers get there. Ill let u know if u should cut them or not. I should be taking it out this afternoon. Looks alot better since I cut them, we will see if the grip any better.

Well most of the snow was melted by the time I got to go out. Wasnt very much to start with. Still got to test out the mudslingers after cutting them and wow! Grips so much better, I broke an axle pin bc they grip so good. If u have mudslingers cut them now!!!!

Looks like fun!!! Too much snow here in Ohio barely gets through the backyard. I don't know if i will be able to cut my mudslingers right when i get them haha. Maybe after a few months. One question though, do your rims rub at all? I put one rim on the front and it looks like it may rub a little when turning the wheel away from truck. I think with adjustment of suspension it should be fine though.

Yea I was the same way, it took me over a year to cut mine so I understand. Yes at first it rubs alittle. I took a dremel to my a-arms where they rub and sanded it down abit. Works fine now.

Mudslingers are the best tire for this truck!!! I am extremely impressed with these tires. They grip so good. Also turning is way better compared to trencher x's. I did manage to tear through another ring and pinion. Need to change gearing up because its just wayyy to fast. Will get pics next time I get out

I got tired of the fake molded winch and the fairlead decal on the front of my Summit so I made a few changes.

What do you guys think?

its the Warn 9.5 winch from RC4wd

I haven't hooked it up yet. I could, but it would be on ch4 so I would loose my locking diff function. I think I'll just keep it for looks too

One thing you'll need is new tires, Summit tires can barely handle the top speed as it is, which I think is around 22mph. If you want to run at moderate speed why not look at the brushed e-revo?

So your running a 5s lipo???? that would explain the extra power.. and the brushed system will handle that.

It can be done on the old esc but the new models have lipo cut off so in lipo mode the new esc won't do 5S, it should be able to be done in nimh mode (I haven't tried it myself) but you will need an external lipo alarm to make sure you don't drain them too far. You'll also need a 2S and 3S battery with the same capacity and C rating. If you mention to traxxas that you have run 5S I dare say it would void your warranty as well.

A Larry say's, I was a little short on info. I have a 2s +3s same brand same capacity and C rating + lipo alarm. The motor is still going after the beating I gave it that day :-)

Here are a few other 5s Clips Jong.

Nice vids. .drove my summit for the first time today,, on the nimhs that came with it(waiting for my 6000mah 2s lipos to come in). and honestly its plenty fast for the size I think. I could use a bit more speed possibly(dewalt??) but the stock tires would not do good any faster as far as handling i dont think. but this thing is fun thats for sure.

i need your help mates this is my current project i'm making, FPV Traxxas Summit i'm not into speed but torque, what's the best gear ratio combo i could find? is 68/12 better for torque? or 55/24 for speed? making this a 4 wheel steering a must for using this kind of tracks. i already got an r/c truck with wheels so i thought this would be a good one for a change. i want a mars rover look for this FPV traxxas summit.
