Brushless convertion emaxx how many cells
Hello, I just got an Emaxx 3903 that is the brushless ready truck. I installed the brushless conversion, just a mounting plate really. I got a ZD racing B4465 motor and 80 amp ESC. I am running a 18 tooth pinion and stock spur. The guy I bought it from and a friend how has had these before both said not to use 4S. I researched and found that it was for 4S and I ran 4s for 20 minutes with out issues. The ESC and motor were warm but not hot. Since I was told not to run 4S I have been running 3S and it seems to lack top end. It gets up to full speed in like 20 or 30 feet and that's it. No winding out to insane high speed like my brushless rustler or stampede. Can anyone offer me some advise? I would like to get the most out of my truck and I don't mind pushing it.
thanks
joe

RE: Brushless convertion emaxx how many cells
Further more, after some consideration and research I have more questions to ask you kindly:
1. Which would be better for bashing and jumping gearing it for use with 2S/3S or 3S/4S? motor is 2100Kv 44mm x 65mm
2. What is a good operating temp for the brushless motors of this size?
3. where on the motor should the temp be taken?
4. How hot should the lipo batteries be getting?
5. Does the 3903 come with ball bears though out?
6. How hot is too hot for ESC?
thank you for your time and consideration

2: Motor temp can be anywhere from 80F-160F without damaging the motor. A temp over 180F is Too Hot
3: Anywhere on the can
4: Warm Not hot, Maybe 80-100 with the ones i have
5; IDK
6: My ESC never gets hot. But i think that they say anything around 160F is hot for an ESC (Don't hold me too it though)

Thank you good Sir! Now I can start the find tuning and get my new rig dialed in. I am running a 18/68 and I think I will try 22t next.

I got my hands on a 24t and drove for about 10 ro 15 minutes with 4S and the motor got to 115 and the ESC got to 124. I am thinking 22 will be the sweet spot but I have not got the 22 in yet

I just used 24T and 2 3S in parallel and temps were just warm to the feel and speed was nice. Still waiting for 20T to go 4S
