Here is your problem....The spur gear is slipping..This is why it will shift when there is no load on it...After you tighten the spur gear if it still does not shift take the spur gear out and replace those little fiber pins in the holes around the center of the gear..Also instead of putting a pin in every other hole put one in every hole.
Hope this helps.
Hope this helps.

I am suprised no one said this yet... but CHECK YOUR CLUTCH!!! it might be slipping inside your clutch bell.... so when the truck needs to supply some power it starts slipping.... what could have happened is your clutch got so hot it melted a little bit and now there is a slight film on your clutch bell.... check this out!! and see if that helps.

Knightlord,
My neighbor had the same problem with his Sportmaxx. With your engine off and transmitter and radio on.... squeeze your throttle trigger and look in the carb to see if your throttle opens all the way. His didn't open fully, so while he was thinking that he was giving his truck full throttle; his carb was only opening half way. If this is your problem; just adjust your throttle linkage to open fully when you squeeze your trigger.

You could always lean out the low end needle some more and richen up the HSN so you can maintain a good temp. That would give you some excellent speed. I did it on my Tmaxx.

I'd richen up the HSN little by little. But make sure your engine isn't flooding. if so, turn it over and dump it ( truck upside down, glow plug out, 3-5 pulls on pull starter or press EZ start for about 5-10 secs or until fuel has stopped dripping from glow plug hole).
