    RE: fuel percentage

You should always run what they tell you to run! These engines are designed to handle X % of Nitro +- 5%. Top fule is fine. You can run different fuel but, you should do another break-in process when ever you change fuel and use the same %.

    RE: fuel percentage

I'm understanding %'s when it comes to nitro, but what about the %'s of oil mixture? I'm getting ready to break in my 2.5 and I purchased some wildcat eliminator ( based on research) but it comes with a 14% oil, the eliminator plus which is 18%, is whats recommended by traxxas? The guy at my LHS said that 14% oil is fine, but nothing under 10% oil? Whats up with that? I'm weary of this, any help? Thanks Diesel29

    RE: fuel percentage

the oil is what lubricates the engine since these little engines do not use oil to lubricate it relies on the fuel to do the job. i run 16% oil 20% nitro and it works perfectly it is called bryan originals or sumthing like that traxxas said that that fuel works wonderful, so if u have any more questoins i will be glad to help

    RE: fuel percentage

yamaha moto - switching fuel brands or nitro content is fine, as long as you stay within the recommended engine manufacturers specs. Just remember, when changing nitro percentages, you will need to richen the HSN for higher nitro content, and lean the HSN for lower nitro content.

Diesel Racing - Several years ago, 18% oil was the norm, and should have been obeyed religiously, however, with advancing technologies in fuel additives - it is no longer applicable. As long as your fuel doesn say "race blend" on it, lower oil content is fine. Keep an eye on temps and if you see a rise then switch to a higher oil content, or better brand of fuel. My personal recommendation is to use 'odonnell' brnad fuels. they contain 12% oil - but because of additives will lubricate better and run cooler than other fuels with up to 18%. Byron's Original's fuel is also a great choice.

    RE: fuel percentage

Oil technology has come a long way in the last few years, a better grade oil means you can use less of it and still achieve the same protection. Quality of oil is just as important as quantity. Thats why more and more fuels are having lower oil content. Deandome (on this forum) said to add 3-4 drops of Marvel Mystery Oil to your tank for lower temps and longer life. I personally havn't tried it yet.

You're right, "buyer beware". I didn't say whether it worked or not, I havn't tried it. He also said that he couldn't tell you how well it worked. But still, it sparked my curiosity. I have also heard of other people who add oil to their fuel. I just run Trinity Monster Horsepower 20% (it's what my LHS stocks) and it works fine for me.

    RE: fuel percentage

I think more oil sounds like a good idea. Has anyone here used any of the Morgan fuels.

I was thinking about getting some sidewinder, back yard basher comes in 16% and 18% oil both 20% nitro.

    Any body tried these?

    Chas
